Doing everything while you're cooking

Everyone seems to want a big kitchen diner family space, so they can chat/watch the kids be involved "while they are cooking"

Am I the only one who finds this a nightmare? Simply cannot concentrate on a recipe and entertain friends or children. I end up standing still not doing anything and hoping they will leave me a alone for a bit if they ever want to eat. Stress......

I'm with you. I like a kitchen I can shut the door on or put a baby gate across.

Fuck no. I listen to podcasts while cooking, it's my relaxation time! I would hate to be interrupted constantly.

Not me. I watch the tv from the kitchen while also watching my dd.

I quite like company in the kitchen - especially if they don’t mind helping chop, stir etc

We moved into our new home last year which had a small galley kitchen and separate dining room. The plan already was to open it all up and make a huge social living cooking space. We have been here over 6 mit ya and can safely say that is not happening! It's so nice being able to shut the kitchen off and keep food smells and noises away from our living space, we now absolutely love how it works for our family
