To dislike VOTE buttons

Is it just me or are they click bait? I’ve only seen then tonight and find myself reading them even if they are topics I wouldn’t usually click on just because they’ve got the vote button.

I feel compelled to vote when I’d usually just scroll on by. And I thought they were ads at first too.

The novelty factor will wear off.

I'm reserving judgment until that happens.

If anything, it puts me off clicking on a thread, because it suggests to me that, instead of a multi-faceted, involved human-interest topic to ponder, discuss and discover lots of nuanced opinions on, it's just going to be like one of those pointless, inane Channel 5 filler bagatelles.

Will we lose that great bit where someone comes onto a thread, argues beautifully against the prevailing current of opinion causing PPs to change their minds?

Salt and vinegar, the rest taste like crap and don't get me started on bacon flavour (boak). Possibly pickled onion if its a maize type crisp and maybe Worcestershire Sauce in a crisp emergency but in general salt and vinegar.
