Man-handling climate change protestors

Leafyhouse · 20/06/2019 23:17

Anyone else watch with horror as a climate change protestor was forcefully removed by Mark Field from the Mansion House speech? I mean, I'm no fan of political activism, 'direct action' and so on, but she wasn't presenting him with any direct threat, just shouting and being annoying. AIBU to think that his behaviour was totally unacceptable there?

It's his official residence. He lives there for the time he is mayor. It's a grace and favour residence. Like number 10, chequers, that flat bercow has...

So what? He is not the legal proprieter. He has no 'proprietary rights' which is a concept you just made up anyway. And since he is a lawyer, he'll know that a lot better than you.

Besides.... and it's getting tiring having to keep saying this, he never authorised Field to eject the protester.

I'm not in knots at all. I have not mentioned aggravated trespass at all. Others have but I would not rely on that legislation in this case.

You most certainly are tying yourself up. You're not relying on any legistation because trespass is not a crime, so a random bloke certainly has no rights to eject someone just becasue he felt like it.

Anyway, since it's obvious you're making stuff up as you go along - you've provided no support for any of your shifting claims - let's just say you simply approve of Field's behaviour and leave it at that.

"Mummy" why hayve you linked to a completely irrelevant article on citizens' arrest? Did one of your teen buddies suggest it?

RavenousBabyButterfly · 22/06/2019 17:50

This kiss with Jeremy Hunt's wife is really disturbing...

And as for what would have happened if she had been a man...

There are people on this thread who say Mark Fields used reasonable force to stop the advance of the woman towards Hammond.
There are people who say it is assult.
But you have to agree she was intending to reach Hammond and none of us know just what she would have done.
Mark Fields stopped her because he didn't know her Intentions.

Have a read particularly the bit about law evolving

IcedPurple · 22/06/2019 17:55

Who's Mark Fields?

And have we given up on the hopeless 'trespass' line and gone back to the 'bad intentions' 'she had a rifle in her handbag' line?

Buster72 · 22/06/2019 17:56

The other type ofproprietary rightis an interest inland. Whilst an estate gives one a slice of time to use and enjoylandone physically possesses, an interest gives therightto use and enjoylandphysically possessed by another.Proprietary rightscan be either legal or equitable in status.

@IcedPurple

Is the Google function on your phone broken???

IcedPurple · 22/06/2019 17:56

Well, I'd say law has possibly involved in the decade and more since that article was published.

But since it is concerned with the rights of home owners, what on earth does it have to do with a guest in a public building?

My Google is fine, but the cut and past funtion on your device clearly isn't. What's the source, and, more importantly, the relevance?

Buster72 · 22/06/2019 17:59

My claims have not shifted, go back to page one, read everything I wrote...
Others even Mr field himself seem reliant on self defence or defence of another, me I reckon good old fashioned removing a trespasser

mummmy2017 · 22/06/2019 18:00

There was not much room for her to pass the chair and the pole, a great place to stop someone.
So sorry if your upset by how it happened, I am shocked that M. Did not have a debate on which law to use before he stopped a protesting woman passing him and reaching Hammond.... Prevention being better than letting some be hurt...

PortiaCastis · 22/06/2019 18:02

If the violent man is so cool why has he been suspended and why are the police investigating assault. His expression was of fury and he had no right to grab a woman by the throat and slam her into a column with her hands still free. He's bloody lucky she's not pressing charges but hopefully the police will, there's no excuse for that level of violence none whatsoever.

IcedPurple · 22/06/2019 18:02

What you 'reckon' is irrelevant unless you can prove that a random dude has legal rights to remove a member of the public from a public building. We know you can't prove that because if you could you'd have provided the evidence several pages ago. Instead, you're rambling about 'common law' and posting irrelevant decade old links.

Anyway, enjoy your evening. Make sure you don't make any angry men feel agitated, or interrupt thier nice dinners, whatever you do.

Buster72 · 22/06/2019 18:03

It explains the Lord mayor interest I his official residence, so when he tells you to leave you do, or you become a trespasser, the removal of which is permitted in law using reasonable force....easy.

(Sorry my thumbs are tired trying to explain this)

mummmy2017 · 22/06/2019 18:05

When you are innocent like Hammond and some is rushing towards you, I hope someone is there to stop them before anything happens...

IcedPurple · 22/06/2019 18:06

Sorry... just once more. It proves nothing of the sort. The Lord Mayor is not a tenant and he did not authorise the removal of the protester by a random. You have absolutely no evidence to back your repeated claim that randoms are legally allowed to remove people from other people's homes. If you had you've had posted it long ago.

Anyway, I mean it this time. Good evening and steer clear of angry men who can't be held responsible for their actions.

mummmy2017 · 22/06/2019 18:07

You can't explain to someone, that a person reacting to an event, is reasonable if it prevents a possible assult, so was a good thing .

mummmy2017 · 22/06/2019 18:08

Hi sleep well hope you do too.

mummmy2017 · 22/06/2019 18:08

Zz

PortiaCastis · 22/06/2019 18:09

The obvious thing to do is wait and see what the police have to say on the matter

Buster72 · 22/06/2019 18:10

@IcedPurple

Enjoy your evening too, in fact go out to your local town, I'll even spot you a drink, and watch normal random guys AKA bouncers eject people from buildings they don't own lol.

SIA grants no additional power beyond those enjoyed by everyone. Even Mr field

And it's decades old cause it's common law....It doesn't change much and is applicable.

SassyBadger · 22/06/2019 18:11

Have fun tasering deranged would-be-brides from your son's wedding, mummmmmmmy, ya loon.

and have a lie-down and stay away from the sherry.

Toodles.

SassyBadger · 22/06/2019 18:11

Field assaulted her. Fact.
