To think I should be able to change GP if I'm not happy with my care!

Really fed up. I can't stand my GP, she is rude, dismissive and doesn't listen. My SN child won't even see her!
It isn't just me , there are many comments locally along the same lines and she has missed some serious things according to what I've heard.
There is only her as we are rural although sometimes we get locums.

I've tried to change GPS but because we are already in the area and under a local GP already they won't let me change unless I'm new to the area.

We are rural so limited.

Is there anything I can do?

Who’s stopping you? You can easily change GP, I’ve done it.

Vibiano · 19/06/2019 09:26

According to the NHS website you can change GP's if you want to and don't have to say why.
Have you been to speak to the new GP's about it? It might be the practice rule because they are oversubscribed.
Could you have a word with the new practice, manager?

Yes I've actually been into two local surgeries. Both have said as their lists are quite full they are only taking patients who have just moved to the area and not already registered locally.
The other ones we aren't in boundary for.

Get in touch with the local health board and tell them you need to change. They may force one of the other surgeries to take you

Alsohuman · 19/06/2019 11:33

Agreed. Contact your local CCG and let them sort it.

Is she the only gp in her practise? Can you not just insist on seeing another doctor in the same surgery
