Best of a bad bunch?

OP posts:
Cookit · 18/06/2019 20:48

I am really liking Rory Stewart.

OldUnit · 18/06/2019 20:48

Rory's stance on Brexit will cost him the premiership, this time, but I hope we have the opportunity to vote for him in the future.

I think he's something quite unique.

The others? Absolute shit show.

grace7 · 18/06/2019 20:49

Rory Stewart does seem the most sane of the bunch. Unfortunately his voting history is pretty far from ideal. Not a fan of any of them.

ShitAtScarbble · 18/06/2019 20:50

Bunch of cunts - but Rory Stewart if I absolutely HAD to vote. He won't get it - way too sensible.

ShitAtScarbble · 18/06/2019 20:53

However - allow me to draw your attention to the excellent and very funny Jonathan Pie on the matter

cardibach · 18/06/2019 20:54

Rory is not u inquest. Judge him by his voting record. He’s the same as the rest, just better at looking normal.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 18/06/2019 20:54

Jeremy Hunt - no - I like the NHS
Michael Gove - no - he’s awful
Sajid Javid - no - don’t like his beliefs
Boris Johnson - NO NO NO NO NO - Fuck NO

So I guess I’d vote for Rory Stewart (except I am not a Tory so can’t)

cardibach · 18/06/2019 20:54

Unique not u inquest!

Iggly · 18/06/2019 20:56

Unless you’re a Conservative party member you won’t have a choice between them.
The Tories will pick one.

It’s better to look at party policies and not at the individual because it’s not a presidential system.

Teddybear45 · 18/06/2019 20:59

The only one being honest is Rory.

Iggly · 18/06/2019 20:59

Oh my goodness this debate is embarrassing

Jeremy Hunt saying he’s not a racist because his kids are mixed.
Er.... surely you shouldn’t be racist anyway

Boris completely dodging the issue about the fact he’s cocked up and as a result there’s a mother dying in an Iranian jail.

Disgraceful.

StayAChild · 18/06/2019 20:59

That was painful.

OldUnit · 18/06/2019 21:01

I think we're all aware the choice isn't ours. Hmm

The 'who would you vote for' is still a relevant point to muse on though, although whoever it is is just the bust on the front of a sinking ship.

IceRebel · 18/06/2019 21:01

Similar to Mumoftwoyoungkids

Jeremy Hunt - no - I like the NHS
Michael Gove - I work in education, enough said
Sajid Javid - no - don’t like his beliefs
Boris Johnson - NO NO NO NO NO - Fuck NO

So that only leaves Rory Stewart. I hate picking the best of a VERY bad bunch, but he would have to be it.

Iggly · 18/06/2019 21:07

I’d never vote conservative. Even if they had an excellent charismatic leader.

Because they’re Tories. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jux · 18/06/2019 21:08

They were all awful. Mind you, Emily couldn't handle them, so perhaps with someone else chairing it might have been better.

I would really, really like it if they stopped using Bliar's hand gestures. Don't use your thumb to point, or the first knuckle of your finger. No one normal does that.

Fleetheart · 18/06/2019 21:12

I think Emily did a good job. Not an easy mob to control. I would go for Rory Stewart any day, he is more sensible.

Pinkmouse6 · 18/06/2019 21:20

None of them, they all came across as jumped up arseholes and just typical politicians really. Never a straight answer.

confussedmisfit · 18/06/2019 21:23

Absolutely not Rory. As I've said before, the only reason he comes across as best is because he doesn't say anything of note so can't fuk up.

None of them come across particularly well.

I'm just hoping Boris will be a bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger was as governor for California. Just the face, whilst a lot of smarter and more intelligent people pull the strings behind him.

As for people saying I'd never vote for Labour, or I'd never vote for Tories etc. Because of something Thatcher done or Blair done, blah blah blah.

Doesn't that make you very narrow minded?
I don't affiliate with any particular party, as I believe in voting for whose representing me and my family best, which party they are part of doesn't come into it if I agree with their current values.

Just my 2p worth.

Cherrysoup · 18/06/2019 21:28

And this. Quite terrifying.

watching the potential PM candidates and wondering who the f@*k would I vote for?
VladmirsPoutine · 18/06/2019 21:30

Rory is an archetypal Tory. That he is seen as the most palatable is testament to how far right the Tories have swung in their quest to appease Farage and his ilk. Though this might please the hard-Brexit and right-wingers in their party; it won't sit very well with the general electorate when election time invariably comes along. The Tories are eating themselves and it can't come soon enough.

Jasging · 18/06/2019 21:33

Cannot believe all the Rory love he is bottom of my list - seems even more out of touch than Bojo!

My list would be -
1 - Sajid thought he came across great but he'll never get it
2 - Hunt but he needs some confidence
3 - Gove speaks well but he's a twat
4 - Boris he's a twat but a clever twat
5 - Rory

confussedmisfit · 18/06/2019 21:40

Jasging

That would also be my order for them.
Sajid does seem like a good person and seems the best of them all, alas I think he's possibly to weak and doesn't seem to have that determination to get to the very top.
I can't see him stabbing people in the back to get what he wants, something all the others would do just jump a dinner line.

Also remember Give had a detailed plan........he said that same comment about ten times throughout the show. Didn't say what it was, but he has a detailed plan.
So that's alright then HmmConfused

confussedmisfit · 18/06/2019 21:41

Gove has the detailed plan*
