Asking on behalf of dd who is flying tomorrow. She is just taking a carry on bag.

Her toiletries, all lovingly dispensed into small containers, fit into one small clear plastic zip lock bag.

But her make up does not fit in the same bag. Does this mean she can't take it? Sorry to be useless but I always take hold luggage and no make up on holiday, so it's not something I'm experienced in.

Tia.

Pre-order from Boots, pick up airside (after security) it takes 5 minutes & doesn’t count towards your allowance or your airline baggage allowance - it’s treated like Duty Free.

Obviously not to replace all your makeup, but your shampoo, shower gel, hairsprays etc.... all the things that take up space or weight or would otherwise need to go through security, and that you would use up or leave on holiday.

Game changer!

Put her bag of definitely liquids in a clear bag to show.
Then put makeup bag with tampax in with it in her case.
You will get through security most probably with no bother.

Ok, so recent experiences at Gatwick welcome ...

I flew from mcr airport last week and the woman in front of me was made to ditch one of her 2 plastic bags of toiletries so it definitely happens. Personally I prioritise make up above toiletries as it’s generally easy enough and cheaper to pick up miniatures for shampoo etc in boots at the airport or use hotel freebies.

cardibach · 18/06/2019 20:30

Howz you get that the regulations are to stop people blowing up planes, yes? Trying to get round them when there is absolutely no need is ridiculous. If you want to take too much liquid/paste/spray to fit in a 20cmx20cm bag, get hold luggage. That’s loads.

Parker231 · 18/06/2019 20:33

Why are so many trying to get around security measures - they are there for your safety. Either follow the regulations or if you want to take larger amounts, book a case for the hold.

blackteasplease · 18/06/2019 20:35

Tbh I've got away with several bags of toiletries (in small containers) and make up many times. Didn't realise it was the rule til recently!

FurrySlipperBoots · 18/06/2019 20:35

Sorry to wriggle into your thread OP, but I just thought I'd ask as everyone seems to know...

The liquids thing, is that just for hand luggage? Can you have liquid makeup/suncream/juice or whatever in your hold luggage or do you have to confess to it?

OrchidInTheSun · 18/06/2019 20:36

I usually fly from Gatwick. Like I said, I don't usually put deodorant into the bag but better safe than sorry. Just buy some stick deo and solid soap. If she buys travel size stuff, she should be able to fit everything else into the bag. Presumably she's only going a few days? She can buy sunscreen cheaply there and leave it behind

OrchidInTheSun · 18/06/2019 20:37

You can carry as much as you like in hold luggage Furry. I would get ziplock bags to put it in because the change in pressure can make containers leak

Hippychick78 · 18/06/2019 20:38

Hold luggage is completely separate and not a problem because its checked in. Would only maybe be subject to quarantine rules depending on where you're going

daisyboocantoo · 18/06/2019 20:40

Can she check her hand luggage in? Then she doesn't have to worry about liquids and also gets priority boarding

Procrastination4 · 18/06/2019 20:41

These might help you. I know I’m always unsure what to bring in carry-on and what to put in the plastic bag. (Certain size, must be able to close it.) I used these notes when I was flying with hand luggage only in April and got on fine.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 18/06/2019 20:42

yet the shoe bomber got through er... because these stringent security rules didn’t exist then... they came in afterwards BECAUSE of him and other terrorist attempts.

Procrastination4 · 18/06/2019 20:42

Sorry! They didn’t attach!

Can she not buy toiletries in Boots once she's gone through security? That's what I do or did but haven't flown for years due to having a nightmare toddler

Amanduh · 18/06/2019 20:45

I always take two bags and never been stopped because I didn’t realise Blush doesn’t mean she won’t be I know, but I always have

Brendatheblenda · 18/06/2019 20:46

@Nextphonewontbesamsung the shoe bomber was arrested about 10 years before these restrictions were put in place.

I’m not quite sure why some people are trying to get around these measures. They are for your safety, it’s not a ploy to get you to buy more or anything, it’s literally to try to stop people blowing up planes!!

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 18/06/2019 20:46

The shoe bomber was post 9/11 ...

I flew last week and was told off for having stuff in plastic bag slightly larger than 20 x 20 and had to rebag it (and give a bit to DH for his bag).

First time in years we've gone carry on only - such a faff! And pissed off i couldn't buy wine in resort to bring home...

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 18/06/2019 20:47

You can get bags at the airport if your own bag is slightly too small, right?

OP posts:
AlpenCrazy · 18/06/2019 20:50

Yes they hand out bags at security

Jsmith99 · 18/06/2019 20:52

It’s nothing to do with EasyJet. Airlines don’t make the rules about liquids, pastes and gels in hand luggage. The government does, and the rules apply to all airlines. EasyJet are not responsible for enforcing these rules, either. Airport security are.

starzig · 18/06/2019 20:53

Can she cut down. 1 tinted moisturiser instead of foundation and moisturiser, 1 mascara, 1 compressed deodorant, 10ml bottle of perfume, 2 x lipstick, 50ml toothpaste. This should fit comfortable and should cover all needs.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 18/06/2019 20:53

I flew from Stansted last week....i take a bar of dove soap and then buy the cheapest shampoo...conditioner and toothpaste in Boots once ive got through security...its then just my make up to put in the little plastic bag...easy peasy.
