A uni assignment question

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2019 19:00

It's been about seven weeks since I handed my assignments in (they were all due the same week)

Do i politely email my lecturers and ask what's going on or just keep waiting? I'm getting really anxious about them and don't want to up my hours at work just in case I need to redo something (probably not very likely given my past results but could happen) I'm just finishing second year so these ones matter.

WIBU to send the email? I can word it very politely and wouldn't be demanding or rude.

Thanks

They will prob be released after the final exam board when your grades are decided. Do you have a results day? Most courses do.

Mammajay · 18/06/2019 19:03

No problem asking. I think you are usually given submission and return dates for essays?

BlueMerchant · 18/06/2019 19:06

I wouldn't
It's a busy time of year.
Working on your anxiety would be my advice if it's affecting your life.
Keep yourself occupied and don't start ruminating.

Email your course administrator. They are there to help with these kinds of enquiries. I work at a uni. We are obliged to return marks for written work within 4 weeks, although this could vary from institution to institution. Exam marks usually get released on a fixed date. This sort of info should be in yourr course/module handbook, but there's nothing wrong with a polite enquiry.

No harm in sending a polite email to ask when you can expect to hear. I know it’s a busy time of year but 7 weeks is a tad excessive ime. My uni lecturers aim to return assignments to us within 4 weeks.

MummytoCSJH · 18/06/2019 19:16

7 weeks is ages! We always get our provisional marks within 20 days of the exam or due date. I'd just politely ask.

werideatdawn · 18/06/2019 19:17

How many assignments? Our tutors always give ours back within two weeks but it's only one assignment at a time. I dont think 7 weeks is excessive if its loads of assignments.

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2019 19:24

Four assignments and one exam results. Not expecting the exam result back yet. As far as I know we don't have a results day as 99% is assignment based.

Seven weeks sounds too long - at least for indicative grades. I would expect there to be guidelines as to how long feedback should take, so ask what this is or see if you have some sort of assessment feedback policy.

Chuffingchuff · 18/06/2019 20:14

Yes definitely email! Ours are supposed to be back within a month.

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2019 20:24

Thanks. I've sent a quick email just asking for an update. I'm glad I'm not just being impatient.

do you not have an assignment calendar that tell you hand in and result dates? we dont get a notification when ours are released they are just there on the date and we have to check back

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2019 20:59

No, ours are handed in by a set date then the grades are released once they've been marked.

NoFucksImAQueen · 18/06/2019 21:18

released how? ours just go straight on turnitin.
I hope you did well in your assignments, that's a lot all at once!

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2019 21:22

Thanks!

We get an email and then can check the grades and feedback on Canvas.
