Seen pictures in the papers recently of Kate etc, all done up at events, looking lovely, lots of family around
I'm jealous!!!
I know they are under pressure and if course I wouldn't swap my anonymity but it must be nice dressing up in gorgeous new clothes all the time, with somewhere to go and no worries about babysitters, house a mess, cost of day out...
Beats always going to asda and lidl on your day off.

True, but she seems so happy.

IDontGiveABagOfDicks · 19/06/2019 17:32

Absolutely fucking not for me.

I’m far too introverted to be able to cope with that bollocks.

ssd · 19/06/2019 17:32

I think a lot of the meghan stuff is pure racism, she gets grief Kate never got. That and the fact a lot of the English Joe public think she's beneath them. Pure snobbery.

OP posts:
IcedPurple · 19/06/2019 17:34

Look how much grief Meghan gets for example : I bet she didn't even realise how bad it can be sometimes even if she was a minor celeb before. It must be horrible even though they go into it all willingly.

Meghan is under scrutiny now because she's new and glamorous, but give it 5 or 10 years tops and that interest will be much less. Does anyone really care about Sophie, for example?

Plus, while it can't be fun to know people are writing stuff about you which may or may not be true, it doesn't really matter in a sense. Their position is unearned - it's not liek they're politicians who could lose their jobs due to negative coverage. That must be another great thing about being royal - you're almost entirely unaccountable for what you do or don't do.

PineapplePower · 19/06/2019 17:36

Diana didn't have a happy marriage Kate does

William doesn’t seem to be a particularly attentive husband and treated her very badly when they were dating. He was said to have cheated on her before marriage, but the worst was when he had those dodgy photos taken of him dirty dancing with a pair of pretty young blond girls (he had his hand on one girl’s waist) on a guy’s ski trip when Kate was home with the kids.

She does seem to worship him though, in all the photos she’s gazing at him adoringly 🤷‍♀️

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2019 17:37

I've never gone out at 3am for fast food.
I dread to think who is hanging around at that time of the morning where our local one is to be honest.
You can't look like Kate figure wise and eat that. She has iron discipline I bet. No vices (but I can imagine some of the others do or send the staff out!)
Mind you, I read on here that she has been papped smoking but I find that hard to believe! Or it was years ago.

megletthesecond · 19/06/2019 17:39

Terrorist and kidnap targets? No thanks.
They couldn't disappear even if they wanted to for those reasons.

I do think they highlight important topics, such as mental health and I bloody love the clothes.

IcedPurple · 19/06/2019 17:39

@PineapplePower

And of course there have been more recent rumours about William too....

She does appear to adore him but he seems colder to her. Of course, that's just their public face so who knows what their relationship is really like?

dottiedodah · 19/06/2019 17:40

Happy Hillock/Iced Purple.Diana did have a very privileged life but wasnt all that happy it seems .Her efforts to give her boys a "normal" life, extended to theme park rides and hamburgers ,but not cooking washing and cleaning! .My point is ,life always looks different from the other side of the fence!

IcedPurple · 19/06/2019 17:41

I've never gone out at 3am for fast food.

And why would you need to if you can just dispatch a minion to pick up any type of food of your choice at a moment's notice?

ssd · 19/06/2019 18:08

Anyway, a lukewarm cheeseburger V a lifetime of privilege.... No brainer.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2019 18:15

One thing I am envious of is the fact that they will never have to wait for any care or wait to see a doctor or be put in a corridor at A and E or have to sell their homes to pay for a care home.
I know other people are the same if they are wealthy or can afford private care , but with the royals it's all there for them every day or at least within half hour! They are very lucky in that respect.

CSIblonde · 19/06/2019 19:38

God no. Staff around 24/7 even at home, so having to watch what you say/still feeling on show. Everyone picking your hair/makeup/outfits apart & commenting on your weight. Boring longwinded public ceremonies & dinners, making public speeches that again get picked apart & commented on. Following outdated, archaic protocol even with family members about manners & dress. No downtime for just you, wandering around in your 'jamas eating crap & watching rubbish TV just because.

CSIblonde · 19/06/2019 19:50

Hollowtalk
You're right, I remember reading that Diana was spoken to about her midnight food raids on the kitchen when first married . She also caught Paul Burrell looking at her private papers more than once according to her Private Secretary's book. And Andy & Fergie were unpopular with staff for expecting them to be on call to the small hours for boozy dinner parties.

missperegrinespeculiar · 19/06/2019 20:40

I don't know, sometimes I feel like people have to concentrate on the negatives just to make the thought of their enormous, unearned privilege bearable

of course, they have a charmed life, with no worries whatever over important stuff (like health care, as mentioned by a poster above), if all you have to worry about in life is what some tabloid journo might say about you, you are better off than the vast majority!

ssd · 19/06/2019 21:29

I don't know how anyone can say the royals can't wander about in their pj's eating crap, of course they can. They are in charge of their household, if they don't want staff in their faces I'm sure they can be asked to discreetly keep back. As said further up, we have to make their lives of unearned luxury seem unbearable for us to swallow what they get away with.

OP posts:
escapade1234 · 19/06/2019 21:32

People have funny ideas of royal life if they think Kate can’t watch rubbish tv and wear her pyjamas. They don’t have sergeants standing with their backs to the walls in every room 24 hours a day you know.

escapade1234 · 19/06/2019 21:33

I meant servants.

GlamGiraffe · 19/06/2019 21:36

Not in a million years. Your life is not your own.
Granted you'd never want for anything but i personally dont think youd ever have a different kind of peace of mind either, and no freedom with it.

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 19/06/2019 21:40

Not for all the tea in China! I like being anonymous and not relying on trusting a bunch of random people for my safety security and privacy. I lock my front door, close the curtains and am mistress of my own manor.

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 22:28

@ssd nope stuff said against Meghan isn't racism. Most people would agree that having someone marry into the royal family who isn't upper class white is a great thing and a breath of fresh air for the British monarchy, and I agree (I mean it helps that she happens to be very beautiful). It's just her attitude and behaviour that stinks 😂😂 whether she is black, white or purple no one cares but it's the way she acts that has attracted negative press and she has no one to blame but herself.
Kate definitely got her fair share of criticism back in the day, people will always find something to say. But she is dignified and that's why people like her. Same can't be said of Meghan unfortunately 😂😂😂

ssd · 19/06/2019 22:42

That's your opinion annabelle. I don't share it.

OP posts:
happyhillock · 19/06/2019 22:43

Princess Margaret was told if she wanted to marry Peter Townsend, she would lose her Royal title, recieve no money from the civil list, she would no longer be able to live at her Kensington Palace apartments. She wouldn't give up her life of privilege, Margaret had a great life.

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 23:14

@ssd nope not an opinion, have a mate who works for the royal family and like it's said below Meghan is quite the hurricane 😂😂 no smoke without fire luv x

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 23:16

Also English people aren't racist, it's 2019 no one cares about race. Presumably you aren't from the UK?
