Seen pictures in the papers recently of Kate etc, all done up at events, looking lovely, lots of family around
I'm jealous!!!
I know they are under pressure and if course I wouldn't swap my anonymity but it must be nice dressing up in gorgeous new clothes all the time, with somewhere to go and no worries about babysitters, house a mess, cost of day out...
Beats always going to asda and lidl on your day off.

“I think it would be horrible. Having to look fabulous all the time, forced to make small talk with strangers all day every day,“
Well-for a couple of hours most days........

WineIsMyCarb · 19/06/2019 08:02

What you want @ssd, is to be filthy rich but not famous. Then you're in with the 'set', have the lifestyle, etc, but no one knows who you are or frankly gives a toss. Someday that will be me.... [dreamy face]....

ssd · 19/06/2019 09:03

How good would that be!!!

Yes Kate does look very happy. I like her and William, as people, they seem to have a loving family.
I am totally against the monarchy though, I hate the class system and the unearned privilege it brings.
I think it's being rich I'd like, that and having a big extended family like Williams. I've no family apart from dh and the kids and extended family seems glorious to me. When it works😁

It is. These jollies all count as "engagements"

By the way, I'm going for a yellow today for HM Ascot frock.

Gth1234 · 19/06/2019 13:25

^ I assumed this was apropos Royal Ascot.

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 14:53

Sophie wessex's life I would 100% swap with but Kate and William have a lot of pressure. I do think Kate is a lot more dignified than Meghan though, with her frivolous spending and controlling Harry. She's not made herself popular in the Uk, and I know she gets trolled in the media a lot, so I definitely wouldn't want to swap with her!

ssd · 19/06/2019 15:03

How ridiculous Annabelle, as if you know anything about Harry and Meghans life.

OP posts:
Bluerussian · 19/06/2019 15:15

How does Meghan spend frivolously and control Harry? She seems not to have put a foot wrong so far and anyway she has a lot of her own money so can spend how she likes.

happyhillock · 19/06/2019 15:15

I would love to be a royal, no money worries, no washing and ironing, baby sitter on tap, great clothes made to fit you, no cooking and cleaning, fantastic holiday's and trips abroad, what is there not to like

dottiedodah · 19/06/2019 15:29

I remember being amazed when I read that Princess Diana in full make up. hair done beautifully. Wonderful clothes etc ,Said to an Aussie housewife on walkabout "I d swap lives with you in a heartbeat!.I should imagine the woman was totally nonplussed!.Life is always greener on the other side of the fence it seems !

happyhillock · 19/06/2019 15:36

Diana had a great chance to live a nearly normal life after her divorce, but she carried on with her expensive holiday's, great trips on a millionaire's yatch, staying at the Ritz Hotel in Paris at someone else's expense, she loved the privileged life,

continuallychargingmyphone · 19/06/2019 15:44

It sounds like the idea of a support network is what’s appealing for you, ssd Flowers

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 15:44

Meghan's nickname amongst her staff is Me-Gain, she is awful! 😂😂

annabelle1992 · 19/06/2019 15:45

And I know this as I know someone who works for the royal family

VladmirsPoutine · 19/06/2019 15:54

To be fair to you OP, the thread lasted a fair bit before the inevitable Meghan bashing began. Twas only a matter of time, oh well.

VladmirsPoutine · 19/06/2019 15:56

I too also know someone who works for the royal family and I have it on good authority that Meghan isn't allowed to blink 3 times in the presence of Prince Philip as she has.... 'the power'... so all precaution must be taken. wink, wink.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2019 15:58

I would hate all the attention and having to look groomed and neat and tidy all the time! Plus a lot of the population really dont like you at all without even meeting you - that is pretty daunting.
some of it must be lovely, but im sure there are even richer folk in the world out there that have a lot of this and are anonymous, best of all worlds for them! ( i would rather that than being a Royal)
I saw some pics of Kate on tv about this crash that happened and she looked very stressed by it all. I'm sure their lives are not always perfection despite all the wealth.

babysharkah · 19/06/2019 16:03

I'd much rather be Beatrice or Eugenie, minor royalty, loads of money, no responsibility.

Orangecake123 · 19/06/2019 16:06

I'd like the money, but would not like to be recognized.

KevinKlineSwoon · 19/06/2019 16:12

No money in the world would make that a life I'd want

Lizzie3869 · 19/06/2019 16:13

He sort of has to be around to be King in due course.

No, he could do what Edward VIII did and abdicate. He would have to accept that he was banished from the family for life.

And no, I wouldn't want their life, whatever luxuries they might have.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 19/06/2019 16:15

Yep, and they can't just nip out for a Maccy Ds at 3am. Or pop down the footie and scream obscenities at the ref — it's the law Grin — on a Saturday afternoon.

I, on the other hand, can source a fancy dress and get the house cleaned if I wish.

CookPassBabtridge · 19/06/2019 16:24

This would be my ultimate nightmare! Keep your fancy clothes and hired help, I want to exist in my anonymous, unpaparazzied, unpressured state. Ugh!

Xmr1986 · 19/06/2019 16:26

Zara Tindall's life, yes.
