Seen pictures in the papers recently of Kate etc, all done up at events, looking lovely, lots of family around
I'm jealous!!!
I know they are under pressure and if course I wouldn't swap my anonymity but it must be nice dressing up in gorgeous new clothes all the time, with somewhere to go and no worries about babysitters, house a mess, cost of day out...
Beats always going to asda and lidl on your day off.

A middling comfortable life with no financial worries is way beyond a lot of people..most people I'd say. I wouldn't expect you to feel jealous of anyone.

Yes, maybe a minor royal like Sophie Wessex would be nice. Charmed life, mind you I don't fancy her hubby...

Not in a million years would I want Kate Middleton's life. Or her husband. I think he married well. Her less so. I really hope that speculation that he was playing away is false. Awful life in a fish bowl.

I would prefer my life any time over it.
Definitely the much lesser royal's have the better deal.

VladmirsPoutine · 18/06/2019 21:46

Granted Blue it doesn't have to be an either/or at both ends of the extremes between affording a loaf of bread to having a royal life. But even for those middling - it's still a struggle. From commuting, to looking after relatives, to sustaining life and all those normal worries we all have - I'd still never have to worry at all if the 07:54am to London will arrive on time so I can go that very important million-dollar meeting I have at 9am in the city.

Oneminuteandthenallgone · 18/06/2019 21:52

Children born into service? Didnt we abolish that a couple of hundred years ago?

escapade1234 · 18/06/2019 22:02

Goldfish bowl? I don’t think so. They get oceans of privacy. When did you last see a papped photo of Kate or William? Never. They are afforded a luxurious lifestyle and have to do a very bare minimum in return.

All day every day making small talk? No. A few engagements a month for a few hours at a time.

I think it looks utterly glorious.

sqirrelfriends · 18/06/2019 22:03

I'd love to be a minor royal. Fancy dinners, prestige and money but a good amount of privacy as well. Amazing.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/06/2019 22:20

escapade they do get papped. The British media do not pap or publish. Foreign media's do

Oneminuteandthenallgone · 18/06/2019 22:23

When did you last see a papped photo of Kate or William? Never.

Ha ha, the whole world has seen pictures of her sunbathing topless. Had you forgotten?

User8888888 · 18/06/2019 22:23

Being a major royal would be hard I think but it would be quite fun being 30-50th in linw. You’d get invited to all the good stuff without the hassle that comes with it.

nildesparandum · 18/06/2019 22:29

I would love to be the Duchess of Cambridge full stop.
Wearing beautiful clothes without worrying about the cost and having the time to exercise each day so your lovely trim figure will always fit into them.
No financial worries about anything. Having your children going to the best schools taken for granted.Plenty of cooks cleaners and nannies.
Having nearly everyone praising you about how perfect and beautiful you are, what a perfect mother you are etc.
Can't be bad.

Bluerussian · 18/06/2019 22:30

VladimirsPoutine (love your name), makes good points. Whatever your station in life, rich, poor (I've been dirt poor, never 'filthy' rich), or in between, you will have problems; no one goes through life without any. They may not be financial but they could be health, worries over elderly relatives or children, work, fears, loneliness, bereavement......the list is endless.

So envying people because they have money is pointless. Nobody knows what is in store for them in the future.

escapade1234 · 18/06/2019 23:11

Ha ha, the whole world has seen pictures of her sunbathing topless. Had you forgotten?

Come on, that was a very long time ago! She must be in and out of Kensington Palace most days and I’ve only seen one papped picture of her at the wheel of her car in all that time.

LittleAndOften · 18/06/2019 23:14

I'd rather be rich and anonymous!

Hate the idea of being public property, of being restricted to a life as a professional handshaker, of always having to be groomed within an inch of my life.

Seems like a gilded cage.

Whydoesitalwaysdothis · 18/06/2019 23:25

I would absolutely hate it

FionasWineShow · 18/06/2019 23:28

I would worry about my DC being kidnap targets a lot.

Their security detail is such that there is literally zero chance of this happening.

You can hunt me down and get me to eat my hat if I'm ever proved wrong.

Shot - maybe. Kidnapped - no.

ZiggyB · 18/06/2019 23:32

Do you actually want to be royal though or just rich? Or famous?

HippoPotter · 18/06/2019 23:41

I’d love to have nannies available so I could sleep every night and have time to exercise and look after myself. Be able to have anything I want, loads of ridiculously expensive designer clothes and jewellery, and invitations to functions to wear them at. Lovely holidays abroad. A lovely home and a big garden. No worries about my DC because they’ll have the best private education and will never struggle. Everything taken care of, no cleaning or laundry or grocery shopping to do. I suppose none of that is exclusive to royalty - it’s achievable for any rich person. So I guess basically I just want to be rich.

MamaRaisingBoys · 19/06/2019 00:04

In every photo I’ve seen of Kate since Trooping the Colour she’s looked gloriously happy imo, so something’s obviously going right for her. She has a glow about her.

I personally would hate to be royal though

VladmirsPoutine · 19/06/2019 00:14

Come to think of it the gilded cage does carry some traction. Whilst I'd be happy to be royal, there aren't enough diamonds and private jets in the world to make me want to be Melania Trump.

IAmNotAWitch · 19/06/2019 00:22

A gilded cage is still a cage.

I would like to be extremely rich and extremely not famous.

Best combination.

You can either get on your private jet or wander down the shops in your trackies. No one knows or cares...

powershowerforanhour · 19/06/2019 00:30

If you're going to be royal, may as well be the top job. You can leave your castle and travel down your 2.5mile straight tree lined driveway through your park in a blingy looking carriage procession complete with outriders, get them to drive you up the middle of a multimillion pound racecourse, wave at people then settle down to watch millions of pounds' worth of horses competing for trophies that have your family's names on. Every day for a week. AIBU to think that HM the Queen does her hobby Like A Boss. How to you like them apples Trump?

BouncingBanana · 19/06/2019 01:03

Oh i dunno, i reckon i would love it.
Lazing around on my chaise lounge and browsing through my designer clobber catalogue and telling the butler to inform the chef that i want steak for lunch.
Obviously i would leave my chaise lounge now and again to go and shake a few commoners hands and send a ship on her way or something.
Then i would stick a tiara on my bonce and entertain some Dignitary or another with a slap up meal.
What's not to like?

( I'd choose to be Princess Margaret if i was to be a royal. She knew how to have a knee's up )

ilovesooty · 19/06/2019 03:03

I think it must have been horrible to be Princess Margaret. If ever a royal seemed unhappy she did.

FionasWineShow · 19/06/2019 07:54

She knew how to have a knee's up

Getting blotto to wipe out your unhappiness - not my idea of a quality knees up.

herculepoirot2 · 19/06/2019 07:58

Lots of perks, but also a big downside. Did you know they have to courtesy to each other in the palace corridors in strict order of precedence? Or that no one can continue eating once the Queen, 91, has finished? No wonder they’re all skinny.
