Doctor keeps fobbing me off! Symptoms, anyone else?

Ironmansmyhero · 18/06/2019 17:00

I'm posting here for traffic,

I'm a regular poster, but name change for fear of outing.

I'm literally at my wits end, I'm backwards and forwards from the doctors all of the time. I have a long history including multiple open heart surgeries. All of that is stable atm.
Anyway, I have these symtoms:
Heavy sweating with the slightest of activities, can't even clean the house without excessive sweating.
Red patches that itch on my heads with change of temperature.
Aches In joints.
Nausea.
Memory fog.
Spotty back and face, mostly white spots.
Extreme fatigue and low mood.

That's just a few, but by far the worst. Now I have servere anxiety, but have for a while and I've lived with that, tried medication and nothing works for me. I've had regular blood tests and all fine.

That doctor just keeps telling me they are all symptoms of anxiety and to try mindfulness. I have and I still struggle, the symptoms never get better.
I go back and it's the same thing every time.

Does anyone have a clue, or had any of these symptoms and received a diagnosis?

I just want to cry, I'm a full time student have a part time job and a mum to four kids. I have a burst of energy every so often, but most of the time I struggle to cope and keep up to the house. Oh and I'm a single parent so I get seldom help.

Advice pleaseSad

Lupus? I have that and had itchy red patches on my hand for 7 years before diagnosis. They were triggered by cold and very similar to chilblains. Aching joints, nausea and brain fog are also common symptoms. The only definite test for lupus are ANA antibodies which is not part of a standard blood screen. I tested negative for rheumatism in normal blood tests (inflammation markers etc), which is why it took so long to get diagnosed.

White patches on skin can be pityriasis versicolour, a harmless reaction to a fungus found on all human skin or vitiligo which is also autoimmune.

MummyKnowsAll · 18/06/2019 22:39

I was thinking lupus too

itwaseverthus · 18/06/2019 23:12

Looks a little bit like the rash I get with Dermatitis Herpetiformis when I am glutened ( I have coeliac disease). Has that been ruled out?

itwaseverthus · 18/06/2019 23:22

I'd been told mine was contact dermatitis for over a decade, even though I had two other auto immune diseases, coeliac disease wasn't tested so don't assume all tests have been done. theceliacscene.com/sister-celiac-disease-dermatitis-herpetiformis/

Lupus is a good shout too though.

Lemonlady22 · 18/06/2019 23:29

i always ask my GP to see my blood results, as their 'fine' means jackshit!....my haemaglobin once came back as 'fine' when it wasnt and i ended up in hospital having a blood transfusion.!

Osirus · 18/06/2019 23:48

I get the intensely itchy red patches on my hands, especially when it’s very warm or the heating has been on.

I’m a generally anxious person myself, so it could be related.

Jemima232 · 19/06/2019 04:16

OP - seriously - you've seen all the GPs at your practice, you've had every blood test going, and the results are all normal.

What more do you want? You're not being fobbed off. You have severe health anxiety and you're in need of therapy to help you to cope and to feel better.

Every single symptom you have can be related to anxiety. I'm not trying to sound harsh, truly I'm not.

CallItLoneliness · 19/06/2019 05:32

Has your weight changed? It sounds possibly like cushings to me, which would be definitively diagnosed with a 24 hour urine catch, though the saliva tests can give a decent indication.

Sorry no time to rtt fully at the moment but please see this as a possible reason for red itchiness on the hands that occurs with temperature changes and the related conditions towards the end just in case it’s relevant:

@Jemima232
Honestly? All I want is for them to help me get better, because living like this is a nightmare.

People on here mean to be helpful but, with the exception of doctors, fuel health anxiety. Yes you can test for everything under the sun but the reason we have GPs is to advise based on symptoms and clinical picture whether various tests are needed and to assess the most likely explanation. Yours has been assessed as anxiety. Anxiety that it is something worse makes you not believe them and so it goes on. Try the things to treat anxiety and then if they dont work seek another explanation.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 19/06/2019 08:04

Chronic health conditions require time and attention. GP visits are simply too short to fully explore the complexities of chronic ill health. To imply GP’s never get it wrong and are always going to assess you appropriately, is demonstrably false. They aren’t specialists. They are also restricted by guidelines. For instance, they can only request very basic thyroid tests, as the labs won’t do full panels, they have to follow guidelines.
Women are often dismissed by doctors and struggle with fatigue and poor quality of health, because other people tell them they’re a hypochondriac or have anxiety. It’s infuriating. My GP tried to fob me off with anti depressants, despite recording my mood as normal. I went to a private doctor and ordered more tests, actually not complicated at all, and I had multiple hormone disorders. Years later still I’m now discovering I might have an extra issue and thus may all have been caused by a minor bike accident. Oh and anxiety can be caused by physical problems as well, like high cortisol. Doctors shouldn’t just be handing out anxiety meds, particularly given the new research and understanding of side effects.

QueenBeee · 19/06/2019 08:16

IF you are a fT student and a mother of four you are just run down and your body is kicking back. You probably don't have any me time.

I was going to suggest taking up some exercise eg running or yoga but how would you fit it in???
It's the exhaustion that people get when caring for older rellies. When the demands are relentless. They get rundown and ill.
You need something , preferably exercise, to get a break from it all.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 19/06/2019 08:16

OP I ticked everyone of your symptoms! Lol turns out I had B12 deficiency and fibromyalgia if that helps.

QueenEnid · 19/06/2019 08:31

I'm so sorry you're struggling @Ironmansmyhero ❤️

I also think you have a lot on your plate! However, last year I went to the doctors with some similar symptoms and asked for a blood test. I thought it was a thyroid issue and Mine all came back ok but my folate levels were on the low side. They gave me 5g folic acid and my god, within a few weeks I was feeling a LOT better. I really did feel very very poorly. It was attributed to the fact that I'd had 2 children in 2 years and my body simply couldn't return the folate levels back to normal through diet alone. I was also shocked to find out that this isn't measured during pregnancy!

Those spots on your back look to me like an outbreak caused by stress. I get those when I'm very run down.

I hope you're ok. Whilst you're waiting for answers, try and drink as much water as you can and eat as well as possible. It'll help you feel better xx

Baddabingbaddaboom · 19/06/2019 08:35

It sounds like it could be cfs to me. Can you see a different doctor or demand to be referred? It's so hard when you feel so crap to then be fobbed off

Ironmansmyhero · 19/06/2019 09:52

Thank you everyone, I am booked in the doctors this AM so we shall see what they say
Fingers crossed I can at least make progress.
Although I have anxiety, I've had it for a lot of years and these symptoms are relatively new, so it may just be a case of anxiety becoming worse. Or it could me a number of underlying issues not yet tested. So while I appreciate everyone advising me on working on my anxiety, which I do. I also don't want to not look into different Avenues, continue like this and get no better.

Hi guys,
So went to the doctors today, explained all my concerns and this was a new doctor who took me seriously, agreed there may be more too it and was very sympathetic. Said she doesn't want me backwards and forwards any longer. Ended up on tears out of frustration.
Turns out the last blood test I had wasnt all bloods but only FBC. I was sure she said all vitamins ect were fine last time, but it might be my brain fog and it could have been the time before. So anyway I was wrong. I'll attach a copy of my FBC (Excluding personal details) in next post because to me the look exceptional well.

However, she has told me she will do all blood tests to get to the bottom of it. Only problem is the next available blood test isn't until the 3rd of July so I'll be stuck waiting until then and living with these symptoms. Receptionist couldn't give me any appointment closer.

She has also requested an up to date heart scan to rule that out. So all in all it was a successful visit.

Do you have a mirena coil, op?

JessicaWakefieldSV · 19/06/2019 12:03

Yes that’s the basic initial blood tests that are standard. My private doctor did all kinds of tests, far far more extensive and included saliva and urine testing in some cases. Your hormones aren’t on this, so I assume they’re not tested.

PenguinsRabbits · 19/06/2019 12:05

Glad you got somewhere. I find some doctors are much more helpful than others.

Ironmansmyhero · 19/06/2019 12:06

No doesn't look like they have tested. She is going to though, just a waiting game now. Will have to suffer through it until then. I'm not on any contraception, it has caused heart and hormone issues. They wont touch me with contraception. No chance of getting pregnant though Grin I am in the process of fighting for sterilisation.

differentnameforthis · 19/06/2019 12:19

@Ironmansmyhero The reason I ask is that I had one and had several of the symptoms you mentioned.

Hope you find out what is going on soon.
