Interviewed today but did not get the job. The feedback was 'do keep looking on our website for more vacancies'.

I know no-one can know for sure, but would you see this as an invitation to apply for a similar role if it comes up again, or a polite way of saying no thanks?

Well I would see it in the way that they didn't "have" to say that, so yes I think it's an invitation to try again. Sounds like you just got beaten to the role but they did like you.

DramaAlpaca · 18/06/2019 16:59

I'd read that the same way as Asta19.

Passthecherrycoke · 18/06/2019 17:00

I don’t think it’s either really, just a nicety people add onto the feedback, I wouldn’t read too much into it at all. Still as above sounds like they liked you though

PolarBearBubbles · 18/06/2019 17:03

I'd see it as a generic response that almost everyone gets... but I wouldn't let that put you off applying for anything else.

msmith501 · 18/06/2019 17:15

Totally generic, sorry. Almost all recruitment agencies and similar use the same line... sorry you didn't get job... square peg / round hole... someone with more experience closer to that required... please feel free to check website for similar vacancies with the same or another firm.

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 18/06/2019 17:45

I used to only say it to candidates who I'd want to see again in an interview!

Cakemadeoffruit · 18/06/2019 18:29

We wouldn't say that to anyone we wouldn't want reapplying, so go for it.

TulipsTwoLips · 18/06/2019 19:41

Thanks everyone. I’m going to keep an eye out in case something comes up and if I don’t get an interview I guess I’ll know the answer!

Keep an eye out! I once applied to the same company 3 times before I got the job. Each time I knew I was lacking in specific experience so as time went by I was able to develop that area. That said, if you do get another interview for something else - don't bring up that you've been rejected in the past unless they do. Focus on the here and now. In anycase well done for getting an interview! That's usually the hardest part!

Sparklesocks · 18/06/2019 19:47

Sorry you didn’t get the job, but I think it’s positive - they could’ve just said ‘thanks, and good luck for the future’.
