I know TM are known for their very strict rules but sometimes they just seem to lack common sense......

My DH bought me and his sister tickets to a concert which takes place tomorrow. Royal Mail have lost the tickets and didn't provide a tracking number when they popped the card through the door. They've completely vanished - local post office don't have them and they've spent days trying to track them down. Royal Mail have admitted they don't know what's happened.

Both me and DH have been phoning TM since last Thursday to initially get a tracking number and then to get the tickets reissued. They refuse point blank to speak to me as i was told very forcefully 'They aren't your tickets' my DH has told them numerous times i have permission to deal with the issue as he's working away. Every time you phone you're put through to a call centre in the Philippines who keep you on hold forever or just don't understand what we're trying to do.

Royal Mail finally got through to someone in Manchester who said they would re-issue the tickets to be collected at the venue - problem is they have to be collected by my DH. Cue me on the phone for over an hour explaining the situation but they will only speak to my DH. They've asked him to phone but as i tried to explained he's working away and can't spend an hour on hold in the Philippines!!! So i asked for a direct number saying he will phone when he has a spare minute and sort it out but no......they don't have a single direct line in the whole of TM customer service centre or a direct email!

So they agreed to phone him...the problem is he always puts my number down for stuff like this and they won't let me give them his number because of GDPR apparently!!!! So they've just phoned me back but won't discuss the tickets as its not my account!!!!

it would be funny if I wasn't so worried about not getting my tickets and not only missing out on the concert but also the train tickets and hotel.

No idea what to do!

Find a male friend to pretend to be him!!!

Benes · 18/06/2019 16:00

Oooh that could work....I have his card number and all the log in details.

Good idea!

I get that they have problems with ticket resales etc, but I agree that the whole thing is treated with greater preciousness and security than if you want to change the identity of someone on a flight!

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 16:10

Agree, just get someone to say they are him. I once pretended to be my husband. And I have a very clearly female voice. Due to all the trans issues no one dares question it.

The person was like "is this mr blunt". Me in my normal voice "yes". Person " this is mister blunt?". Me, "yes, can you proceed".

And they did.

Ha ha brilliant! I suspect the account has been tagged in someway as I made my displeasure very clear!!

It's bloody ridiculous!

We’ve had to do this a lot with DH working away. Any male will do! (To the tune of ‘any dream....’

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 16:20

Any Male or any female will do. It would take a very brave or very stupid agent to say "but you don't sound like a man". As long as you have the card details and can answer the security questions it's easily resolvable.

Benes · 18/06/2019 16:30

I have the card details, answered all the security questions and they have an email from DH giving me permission!! It nearly tipped me over the edge when they phoned the number provided by my dh and I answered yet they still wouldn't talk to me!

Annoying. And even worse if it's Bon Jovi they've just sent out an email with reduced priced tickets. The nerve Shock

crustycrab · 18/06/2019 16:33

40 quid Blush I paid 125. Grr

Ivegotthree · 18/06/2019 16:35

They are shit. I will never buy through them again after an awful experience last month.

redexpat · 18/06/2019 16:37

Possibly stupid question - could you download the app and log in with dhs details? The tickets ahould be there.

JollyAndBright · 18/06/2019 16:51

A word of warning.

You’ll probably need the card he paid with to collect the tickets.
They once asked for photo ID too.

Benes · 18/06/2019 17:22

red I tried that. They're actual, physical tickets and they're refusing to email e-tickets .

OP posts:
Benes · 18/06/2019 17:23

jolly that's what they said to me. This is why we need to change the name on the tickets. I have his card but obviously no photo ID

OP posts:
crustycrab · 18/06/2019 17:27

If you are collecting tickets you might. Red DH to come with you. They won't change the name

Benes · 18/06/2019 17:40

They've said they'll change the name but my dh needs to phone up and give them permission to do that. DH can't come......it's miles away and he's looking after ds!!

Just had a knock on the door.....it was the manager of our local post office with the tickets!! He spent all day tracking them down then drove to our local sorting office 10 miles away to collect them! They were found in the back of a royal mail van apparently which is why they'd not been scanned in.

Amazing guy!

OP posts:
redexpat · 18/06/2019 18:17

That IS amazing! You should tweet the post office and tell them!

Benes · 18/06/2019 18:22

I think I will.....they're pretty amazing in general.

EscapeTheCastle · 18/06/2019 18:28

Oh wow. What a great manager. Keep the Faith!

NannyRed · 18/06/2019 18:33

If you know your seat numbers you can rock up and say “I forgot my tickets” they’ll confirm your (husbands) name, postcode, debit card used etc and reprint tickets . That’s what happened when we once genuinely forgot tickets.
Dh always ticks ‘pick up from box office’ I don’t.

Benes · 18/06/2019 18:37

He booked standing and unreserved seating (it is bon Jovi for those who haven't guessed!) So unfortunately that wouldn't have worked. They were being super awkward.

I don't plan on sitting!!!

OP posts:
cardibach · 18/06/2019 19:13

That all sounds difficult, but I’ve never had a problem with them (use them a fair bit) and all that security is the reason we can all afford tickets at all - it stops the touts.
