AIBU to think rapists/groomers/arsonists etc should not dodge court?

Long time lurker but first time poster, here.

I've been reading all the news around the use of community resolutions over the past couple of days - they're out of court disposals that don't count as a conviction and don't give you a criminal record.

They've been used for cases like rape, grooming, arson, gun possession, etc.

AIBU to think there's no excuse for police using them for such serious crimes? Even if it's child on child, youth court's always an option.

YANBU, and Yet people wonder why we have vigilante groups and people taking the law into their own hands.

"Even if it's child on child, youth court's always an option."

Depends on what's happened and the ages I suppose, and it might be considered more effective to get other services involved and deal with it that way.
