Blood test results

Just phoned doctors surgery to get blood test results (had a whole bunch of them done last week as have been feeling unwell).
receptionist told me I need to make an appointment to see the doctor to discuss the results but the earliest appointment she could give me is 3 weeks away. I told her I suffer with bad anxiety and is there anything she can tell me about the results. She said it’s nothing too concerning but she can’t tell me anything further.
I will go out of my mind waiting 3 weeks to find out.
Not sure why I’m posting as I know there’s nothing that can be done about it, just wanted to vent.

If it was remotely serious they would have given you earlier app

YANBU to be upset about a 3 week wait, but if it was something worrisome you'd have been in there this afternoon. Likely you're anaemic or something

Amibeingdaft81 · 17/06/2019 14:51

It will provably be something like slightly low iron levels

gamerchick · 17/06/2019 14:52

Anything serious and they would have you in sooner. The fact it's 3 weeks is encouraging.

I completely agree. A three week wait probs suggests low iron, low B12 or low Vit D
Anything sinister would be an immediate appointment, so try to put it out of your mind x

Thanks everyone.
It was my cholesterol levels and liver enzymes that were checked (I have high cholesterol inherited from my dad ever since I was a child so maybe my levels have gone up again and she wants to discuss putting me on statins).
Also had thyroid levels and iron levels checked.
I’ll try and put it out of my mind and hopefully it will be nothing too concerning.
I’ve just had to wait 7 weeks to get my smear result back. I’m so grateful for the NHS but all these long waiting times for results really don’t help my mental health

Does your surgery have online results? I can usually log in to my account and view or print results well before the doctor can give them. I had to register for this service in person but it's really handy.
Or would they give you a print out or a phone consultation any sooner?

Your lipids could have been a touch high but not enough to start medicating, in which case the doctor will talk to you about diet and exercise.
