Have a look at these links from 15-20 years ago - wish he was my mp - and I don’t even vote conservative.

All the candidates for the PMship have actively implemented austerity for many years. Every single one. They have voted to cut, cut and cut again funding for everything, but especially MH services and education provision. And what did they do? They stood there last night in the C4 studio and pledged their support for MH services and education, the bunch of lying hypocritical cunts. Absolute liars and hypocrites.

I will start listening to them the day they hold their hands up and admit that austerity and their targeted policy of destroying public services has killed people. Until then they can literally fuck off.

Didiusfalco · 17/06/2019 13:10

He’s the best of a bad bunch. At least he’s not hell bent on getting out of Europe at any cost.

AugustRose · 17/06/2019 13:11

Have a look at his voting record over the nine years he's been an MP; think of all the misery and, yes, deaths, that have been caused by the policies of Tory and coalition governments since 2010, and then decide whether or not he's stlll so cool. Which is more important 'cooilness' or humanity?

^^ This completely. Rory Stewart is my MP and I can assure you he is not cool. He is another Tory Etonian elite who is now spouting shite about wanting to help people/social care/housing, etc but did nothing to stop the suffering caused by Tory policies and voted for them every time. He actually fronted a campaign to save local fire stations despite voting for the cuts - hypocracy at it's best.

The fucking Rory love in is driving me mad.

Theimpossiblegirl · 17/06/2019 13:12

Totally agree with you Pepperpot99 , you've put my feelings into words perfectly.

Passionforlife · 17/06/2019 13:13

He is anything but cool!
I find him quite repulsive actually, and completely untrustworthy like a really dodgy car salesmen for a second rate dealership.

Passionforlife · 17/06/2019 13:14

Salesman even. I was surprised he was married!!

Pheasantplucker2 · 17/06/2019 13:15

He's also proposed including Farage in future Brexit negotiations according to radio 2 today. Up until I thought he was the best of a bad bunch x

AdoraBell · 17/06/2019 13:16

Place marking.

Bugger that Rod can get to hell

Broombroomshaketheroom · 17/06/2019 13:18

Everyone that's banging on about how shit they all are, we bloody well fucking know that - this isn't a general election.

This is about convincing Tory voters to pick the least shit Tory leader out of a selection of pretty shit candidates.

In 6 months, if they choose BJ, we'll all be begging for TM to move back in.

TravellingSpoon · 17/06/2019 13:20

He looks nothing like Eddie Redmayne!

He is a horrid snake and the only coolness he is is that he isnt quite as bad as Boris, but still pretty bad.

Coldandonice · 17/06/2019 13:22

Seriously not a fan. I can't even imagine how he managed to become an MP??!! Perhaps purely money and connections, certainly not talent or ability. He may be brilliant smoking heroin in the middle east whilst walking that all sounds very indulgent rich boy, but it takes much more than that to run a country going through the biggest divorce in history!

We don't want cool for a PM thanks, we want competence.

Everanewbie · 17/06/2019 13:23

Pheasantplucker2 do you think that bringing Sinn Fein, with Gerry Adams et al into the Northern Ireland peace process was correct? Do you think it is right that politicans trying to create a peace in the middle east should engage with Yasser Arafat?

Unfortunately sometimes bringing in those in which we disagree is the right thing to do. I'd suggest the two examples above to be far more abhorrent than a man who simply believes that the country is better off away from the EU, and that the referendum result that backs this up be properly implemented.

Heyha · 17/06/2019 13:24

Voting record puts me off him. Sajid Javid is MP for a neighbouring constituency and they seem to have done ok out of him but his voting record isn't amazing either.

Everanewbie · 17/06/2019 13:24

And all the comments about his looks, ffs. Come on, you're better than that.

tuxedocatsintophats · 17/06/2019 13:25

This! Yet another sleekit, pompous snake in the grass creeping Judas spinning a load of bunk to gain power. He's cool alright, as gunmetal. The people who died as the result of policies he supported are stone cold, I can assure you. He's vile. YABU.

Peepmasters · 17/06/2019 13:28

Is op having a laugh, surely this is a joke. Rory for PM? No way.
I can't get past the Coronation Street connection every time I hear his name, I can only hear Michelle wailing on the beach RORY!

An infantile little man planted to cause trouble. That is all he is there to do, and he is doing a grand job of that. Credit where credit is due. Would I want the little weasel actually running anything other than a circus launch? Er no. But I would imagine Juncker would gladly welcome him with open arms and air kisses into their drunken little squad of tax funded ickiness.

Mrsjayy · 17/06/2019 13:29

I mentioned he looked like Eddie Redmayne which imo he does not that i find him attractive or not !

JasperRising · 17/06/2019 13:29

As I say on all these threads, of course his voting record looks crap if you are not a Tory supporter - he is running for leader of the Conservative party! It would be weirder if his voting record didn't support Tory austerity policies etc...

As a PP says this is an internal Tory vote that happens to matter because they are currently the government so their leader becomes PM. As non Tory party members you are just watching to see which of the worst candidates they choose.

Now if it were a general election then it would be a different matter.

Fairylea · 17/06/2019 13:31

His real name according to Wiki is Roderick- so he is indeed Rod Stewart Grin

Peepmasters · 17/06/2019 13:32

And all the comments about his looks, ffs. Come on, you're better than that

We can't comment on his amazing voting record, his astounding career in politics, his values or ethos, we can't even celebrate the fact he is conservative, as I am not sure he is.

He would make the most perfect candidate for leader of the Liberal Democrats though. They may feel queasy about his Eton privilege but they managed to get past their 'value system' with old Cleggy. So Rory will be in with a shot.

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 17/06/2019 13:33

He's my MP. I can assure you it wasn't cool having him a my MP when he failed to help me when one of my relatives was neglected by social services.

Look at his voting record.

AlexaAmbidextra · 17/06/2019 13:35

I tell you what. Rod Stewart would be no worse than the current bunch.

EleanorReally · 17/06/2019 13:36

I see the Eddie Redmayne similarity.
Good luck to him, but money isnt on him.
