"nasty mummy"

Visiting parents today. When arrived lifted car seat out of car with sleeping baby in, she woke up when car seat lifted up. Dad's response "oh nasty mummy woke you up". I realise he was just being silly/jokey but I really don't appreciate being called nasty, and especially not in front of my children. Aibu? Maybe I am.

How old are the children?

barbiedreamhouse · 16/06/2019 19:01

Yep definitely being over dramatic 🙄

lentilslentilseverywhere · 16/06/2019 19:04

Baby and 3yo. 3yo likes to repeat everything he hears

I wouldn't like it.

There have been lots of threads where grandparents have called the mum 'nasty' to the baby, and it's just unnecessary.

Do it to him, see his reaction.

Yabu

Rachelle11 · 16/06/2019 19:07

I would let it go.

pessimisticstateofperception · 16/06/2019 19:07

Yabu, I do this all the time.

Changing nappies, injections, getting clothes on kids, shoes etc -Oh I'm bad to you aren't I?" I've even been known to offer them the number to childline on occasion Grin

He was joking.

MaidenMotherCrone · 16/06/2019 19:08

Get. A. Grip.

Runkle · 16/06/2019 19:08

Good grief. Is this the way things are going now?

Leeds2 · 16/06/2019 19:08

It wouldn't bother me. He meant it as a joke.

confussedmisfit · 16/06/2019 19:08

YRBVU.

I'm sure your baby will have forgotten by the time they turn 15. Untill then you'll just have to suck it up being the nasty parent.
Things will eventually get better Hmm

Ducks..row..Ltb.

Antigon · 16/06/2019 19:12

He might be joking but I bet he never says 'nasty daddy' about himself.

OP, how is he apart from this?

lentilslentilseverywhere · 16/06/2019 19:14

Ok I get it, am massively overreacting! Thanks all!

Just ignore it - I'm sure you will be funny mummy, silly mummy, sneezy mummy, dirty mummy, cheeky mummy, grumpy mummy...

If it really upset you maybe a quiet word later on but really it's nothing!
