in NOT wanting my Puppy left outside a shop/locked in a car outside a shop?

I am very upset and angry as my DH has left our Puppy outside whilst he went into a shop (for a non essential item).
In fairness to him he was probably in the shop for only 5/10 minutes.
Now I know I'm very biased Grin but she is a really cute puppy that I think would be worth stealing. (I was offered 4k for her a few weeks ago in the park!) She is so dopey friendly that I'm sure she would go off with anyone. She also could have run off, she is micro chipped but I have been told that micro chips can be cut outAngry
We live in a 'naice' area but I know dog stealing/baiting goes on everywhere Sad
I know it's not a hot day today but I don't like dogs being left in locked cars either.
Our Pup could have been left at home if my DH really wanted something from the shop-there's lots of us at home to look after her.
AIBU?

I would never leave a dog tied up outside. Never.
I did leave mine in the car whilst I picked something up from a shop today. It was chilly and raining. She doesn’t mind the car. It wasn’t for long. She had also just had a really good walk. As a pup I wouldn’t. She may have eaten the car. Shock

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2019 17:46

Five or ten minutes is a long time. With a puppy. A lot can happen in that time.

I can't honestly say I wouldn't have stolen him if I'd have seen him. WinkGrin Just kidding BTW before I get roasted.

What's he like. He must be so adorable.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/06/2019 17:52

I've never understiood people who tie their dogs up outside a shop! Many shops here have tethering posts and water bowls and the area is really nice, but I couldn't!

I do leave my dog in the car though - WAIT!!! Don't crucify me just yet!

I park him in shade, window shades on all rear windows, cover over the front, tailgate vent in place, windows cracked open. I tried it out in full sun, before I decided to use it for the dog. I read a magazine for an hour in 18degrees. The car stayed a lot cooler than the outdoor temperature. The movement of air through the car on a windless day was really surprising!

But I know that isn't often believed! So i just thought I'd leave that here and... run!

YANBU. Can we see a pic of the cutie?

LaurieFairyCake · 16/06/2019 17:55

I would never do that. I live in a really nice area and she could be stolen so easily as she's the most beautiful dog in the world (biased)

NotEnoughTime · 16/06/2019 17:55

Thanks Wolfie

She is totally gorgeous Awwlook -a real bundle of fun and mischief.

I just keep thinking 'what if?' and it makes my blood run cold. Our DC adore her and they would NEVER forgive my DH (their DF) if something happened to her through negligence.

I don't know how to up/down load photos on here-sorry.
We must share the same dog-Laurie Grin

I used to leave mine outside the supermarket but that's because there's a security guard there who keeps an eye on any dogs and mine quite frankly is likely to put any would be thief in a&e. I rarely do now because he's too damn noisy howling for me

Procrastination4 · 16/06/2019 18:00

I’m fascinated by the idea of someone offering four thousand pounds for a dogGrin -like that was EVER going to happen!
As for your AIBU-explain to your husband in a calm fashion why you don’t want your dog left alone outside a shop ever, or locked in a car alone ever, make sure he understands the reasons, and then forget about it. It’s happened, we all make mistakes, and if the puppy is a relatively new addition to your family, chances are that your husband didn’t actually think things through properly.

Procrastination4 · 16/06/2019 18:03

Four thousand pounds in a park, that is. The type of person who’d thoughtlessly make an offer like that is someone who should never ever have a dog, in my opinion.

pigsDOfly · 16/06/2019 18:04

Leaving a puppy or adult dog tied up outside a shop is an absolute no in my book.

It's the work of a moment for someone to walk off with a dog, it doesn't need 5/10 minutes to steal a dog.

The microchip is irrelevant if a dog is being bred from in a puppy farm or being used as a bait dog.

I'd never take the risk.

NotEnoughTime · 16/06/2019 18:06

Lol stucknoue

I know-Procrastination She is priceless to me so I would never sell her.
I will explain to DH I had asked him when we first got here to never leave her on her own which is why I'm even more annoyed and hope and pray that he doesn't do this again.

My H did this once. I explained about thieves, cruelty, baiting etc and to my knowledge he didn’t do it again.

NotEnoughTime · 16/06/2019 20:37

Hopefully my DH won't do it again either Purplejay if he knows whats good for him.

Thanks for your comments everyone Smile
