To be suspicious of 2 anti corbyn threads on here at the same time

I’m not a Corbyn fan- I vote green so have no vested interest. But I am suspicious when I come on here on a Sunday & there are 2 anti Corbyn threads which seem to be spreading misinformation & bugging up Boris as some kind of pro- lgbt saviour- which he isn’t as he called gay men ‘bum boys’ as I recall.

I do think there are people on here using the mumsnet demographic and volume of posters to spread misinformation. Bots anyone?

I loathe Corbyn but only a fool would prefer Boris to him.

Deadringer · 16/06/2019 11:29

Yes it is odd, there should be a lot more.

MoobaaMoobaa · 16/06/2019 11:30

it's nothing new, all the political partys do it. But unfortunately reporting them doesn't do anything.

their are loads around the elections and brexit, some are definitely bots, and some are paid to fit in then spread their agenda.

One poster who was pointing out one of these was actually band. But she was right and said prolific poster just disappeared after the occasion.

Stripyseagulls · 16/06/2019 11:33

Some of them seem really obvious

Corbyn is such a loathsome, misogynist, superior sort of cunt that I can't imagine why anyone needs to start thread denigrating him tbh

Justanotherlurker · 16/06/2019 11:37

Political astroturfing is done on here all the time, especially near to an election, I do like how no one really points out the endless anti tory threads on here though doing exactly the same.

Stripyseagulls · 16/06/2019 11:37

@Rivers I think my point is more about the patterns of threads on mumsnet tbh

Marilynmansonsthermos · 16/06/2019 11:40

Definitely right op I thought the same. This site is regularly used for marketing purposes, lobbying people and political games. Noticed it so many times!

Dapplegrey · 16/06/2019 11:40

points out the endless anti tory threads on here though doing exactly the same.
Op do you object to all the anti Tory threads?

MyBeloved · 16/06/2019 11:42

Never enough threads against 'The Dear Leader' in my opinion. More the merrier!

Stripyseagulls · 16/06/2019 11:42

@dapple as I have said- I noticed it this morning because it stood out. Am sure there are similar anti Tory ones but the Corbyn ones today just look really dodgy and as someone pointed out on one of the Corbyn threads- what part of Russia is the poster from!?

OP posts:
ACurlyPube · 16/06/2019 11:44

I'm always a bit suspicious when there's a few threads about the same subject. For instance there have been quite a few chicken pox/vaccination threads recently.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 16/06/2019 11:46

Mostly this site is anti-tory though?!

Singlenotsingle · 16/06/2019 11:48

One post appears and it gees everyone up. Reminds them about what they want to say.

calpop · 16/06/2019 11:51

you realise there are multiple troll farms in multiple countries with multiple people paid to try and influence opinions on social media don't you?

MoobaaMoobaa · 16/06/2019 11:53

there's lots of obvious ones. But as I said MN rarely do anything when reported. So I don't bother anymore. But some posters will call them out on the threads.

there's some very subtle ones that crop up too, which I find more disturbing as it's about slowly changing peoples perspectives and normalizing of certain views. These are really not worth reporting if MNHQ can't even see the obvious ones.
Plus to call them out on the thread puts you under the banner of which is what the banned posted was viewed as.

Stripyseagulls · 16/06/2019 11:54

@calpop kind of but guess I have not noticed it so obviously on munsnet before. Am being a bit naive really I guess. I see it on Facebook with ads etc but not so obviously before on here. Freaks me out a bit- makes me long for a simpler democratic time 🤪

This is too funny. There are countless anti-Tory threads on here but as soon as there's one or, shock horror, even two threads about Corbyn, then it's worthy of comment.

Something for the predominantly left wing luvvies on here to get their knickers in a twist about.

Lemonmeringue33 · 16/06/2019 12:05

The lifetime gifts one just picks up on what is headline news in the Sunday press so not surprised.
