Just went for a meal with friends and had that horrible thing when you sit down and everyone goes a bit quiet/changes the subject - I’m 29, thought we had outgrown that

Horrible situation unless you imagined it or they went quiet as they were planning a surprise for you Otherwise it sounds like you need a new set of friends ,

Could they have been planning a surprise? What happened after they went quiet?
