To struggle to care?

In the past I've taken on others issues and actually had sleepless nights over them. These days I'm struggling to care.
I don't want to listen to my mate drone on about things she's unhappy about but won't change once a month. This has gone on for 2 years.
I don't want my ex FIL to attend the house uninvited and talk about all his ailments.
I don't want to listen to my ex moaning about work.

And breathe

YANBU. It takes a lot of emotional energy to listen to negativity all the time. You don’t have to give of yourself all the time.

Some people just drain me. Apart from my family I actually only regularly bother with 3 people these days Blush

Other people are tiring - especially if you're an introvert and/or aren't naturally interested in other people.

YANBU to take time away from them.

I'd happily go and live in a cave on an uninhabited island at times.

Me too. I'm going to be single forever
