Tech help needed urgently!! re internet tv

Posting for traffic. I'm watching amazon prime on a samsung wall hung tv - in someone else's apartment and she is non-contactable.

All good, then I tried to pause and it wouldn't. It won't do anything, even turn the volume down. I've changed the batteries in the remote. there don't seem to be any buttons on the tv itself. It just goes on and on - will I have to retire to the bedroom for the rest of the weekend?!!!

Have you got a smart phone?? Try to download the fire tv app from there. Although you won't be able to control the volume.

Unplug TV from the mains. Plug it back in.

No smart phone. Can't even see where it's plugged in, I'm not used to this high tech. I just thought, it must be coming through the internet (vodafone broadband contract). but I'm scared to unplug the whole internet in case I lose wifi altogether. So then I would be stuck in the bedroom with even wifi!

Check the model number on the back of the tv. Using your smart phone, Google and download the user manual.

Or do what Ribena says.Grin

Look for a different remote.

tinierclanger · 15/06/2019 17:04

You can switch off without a remote www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/control-tv-without-remote/

Definitely try to power down TV. If they have wired it properly it there should be a switched spur (will look like a light switch) somewhere low on the wall nearby or possibly inside a built in cupboard.

Sorry I disappeared. I switched the router off and then couldn't switch it back on, so had no internet so couldn't post. All of a sudden it came back on, but I still couldn't control it. And then I managed to switch it off. What a relief. This place is far too high tech for me, I would never dare try to open the veluxes with their remotes and the central heating is also a mystery. Thanks for the link and the tip about a hidden switch. I will try both.

Thanks
