Is this unreasonable when posting?

If I made a post quite early on a Saturday morning, if nobody had responded within 5 minutes would I be unreasonable to bump the thread with an impatient ‘Anyone?’ or ‘Hello?’ Or should I just accept that people are probably still asleep or occupied with other things at that time of the day and I shouldn’t expect posters to drop everything and answer me immediately?

Anyone?

Are you referring to a specific thread op?
I think 5 mins is a bit soon and it'd be better give five more people a chance to read/reply. But I disagree that bumping is 'cringey and entitled' though Confused a lot of posters only read through most active threads so bumping ensures that those people have a better chance to see it

TheadReaper · 15/06/2019 13:17

Where do you find the unanswered threads?

RavenLG · 15/06/2019 13:19

5 minutes is ridiculous. Smacks of desperation.

SilverySurfer · 15/06/2019 13:45

Bumping after five minutes is ridiculous.

I bump a thread once a week in Site Stuff which was started eighteen months ago. It appears the Tech Team are incapable of fixing the problem but refuse to admit it, so it will be bumped weekly until they do.

MoaningMinniee · 15/06/2019 13:49

I don't think Unanswered Threads exists any more. I'm pretty certain it came up on a thread on Site Stuff the other day, because I'm one of the people who would occasionally whizz down and post answers to anything I knew anything about or make sympathetic noises to those who clearly needed a hand hold about something.

Cersei61 · 15/06/2019 13:56

There was one this morning, about 8ish.

Within 8 minutes the OP was 'bumping'.

Blimey.

No, it wasn't an urgent one.

Skittlesandbeer · 15/06/2019 14:09

So, you do know that Mumsnet is frequented by people outside of your Timezone, right? Quite a lot of folk on the exact opposite side of the planet?

If no one’s answering, in the hour that you post it, consider instead if it’s under the best category for that topic or resign yourself that it just isn’t catching anyone’s interest.

Check it has decent grammar and makes sense. Then just wait. Your people are probably out there, but it can take time for them to find, read, care enough and respond.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/06/2019 17:59

That's overthinking it a bit. I wouldn't personally bump a thread at all. People are not under any obligation to reply to me.
