To think that inviting primary children to witness erect penises, gang rape references and spikes up mens arses isn't artistic, it's pedophilia?

This art exhibition is being pushed by Gendered Intelligence, a group that works in schools:

www.transgendertrend.com/gendered-intelligence-training-teachers-kiss-my-genders/

The event is not age restricted, in fact children are being actively encouraged to go.

I have been informed by a very 'woke' friend that this is art and I am homophobic, kink shaming, and transphobic (because apparently even linking to the above website on my FB is, no matter what it says) and that maybe I should go with my own primary aged dc to 'broaden my mind'.

My mind has been broadened. That friend obviously shouldn't be let anywhere near my dc again.

AIBU?

Awful.

Outofinspiration · 15/06/2019 08:29

The website states that the exhibition contains nudity and sexual imagery, whilst you can book free tickets for under 12s.

And group ticket prices above clearly state primary schools can come.

Now, I would seriously hope that this exhibition is clearly marked and that no parent or teacher is taking children to see the nudity and sexual imagery here, because that would be out and out sexual abuse. And I don't think the Southbank centre would want themselves to be liable for facilitating that.

But what they are doing is blurring boundaries here. Any exhibition which features sex and nuditity anywhere or has any association with it, should not be open to kids, even if the kids aren't going to directly see it. It just feels like this chip chipping away at.... something......

It's designed to chip away at boundaries, all very deliberate.

Outofinspiration · 15/06/2019 08:36

I just can't believe this, I can't believe what I have been seeing the last few days tbh.

jennymanara · 15/06/2019 08:40

Can this be reported to the police?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 15/06/2019 08:42

The police won't care.

jennymanara · 15/06/2019 08:44

Will The Sun do an expose?
We need a tabloid to pick this up

ClaryFray · 15/06/2019 08:45

Showing children anything pronagraphic is child abuse. Report it

ShouldIStayOrShouldIRun · 15/06/2019 08:48

Some queer theorists also teach that what's wrong with rape, incest and even paedophilia is not so much the act, but society's reaction to it - the social stigma. There are some pretty strong connections between paedophile and queer theory

Wtf???

I didn't know that. I knew that the word 'Queer' had been atratched to the LGBT now...but I just thought it was a reclaiming of a slur or something? Your explanation makes much more sense.

Why are fetishes and sexual obsessions being linked to sexual orientations? They aren't the same at all!

OMG OMG OMG
Who does this need reporting to??

Well, I would have said the NSPCC a while back. But, the NSPCC this week have failed to sack a member of staff who was caught wearing his rubber fetish clothes to work under his work clothes, then filming himself wanking in the toilet, and uploading it to a publicly available website, mentioning that he worked at a children's charity. This was stumbled across by someone trying to learn more about Munroe Bergdorf's role at NSPCC (Munroe was recruited to NSPCC by this guy). His LinkedIn had links to his fetish blog. Could have been very easily found by kids interested in Munroe. (Possibly has been, who knows).

Twitter is currently full of people defending him saying It's kink shaming or homophobia to have an issue with this. And that there's nothing wrong with wanking in toilets, we're invading his private life (but HE's the one who made it public!) (These are the same people who tell us we're bigots for not wanting unisex toilets btw).

The NSPCC don't see a public comment is necessary. They have however tweeted about how they protect their own people and support LGBT.

Incidentally, no newspaper will report this (they've all been sent the details this week).

NSPCC did ditch their relationship with Munroe Bergdorf, because of Munroe's homophobic comments on record and - crucially - also because Munroe has been encouraging trans kids to contact them privately (a massive safeguarding no no) and refuses to stop doing this. 150 NSPCC employers signed a letter saying the NSPCC was wrong to let Munroe go, I haven't read the letter but I think they thought the issue was transphobia.

That 150 NSPCC employers put trans ideology and celebrity over safeguarding is very concerning indeed.

Something very bottom is going on here. This is not a one off. Gendered Intelligence are part of a broader social movement that's very dangerous in my opinion. It's why the feminist boards are so full of stuff on trans issues- once you start looking down the rabbit hole you find There's a while world of stuff going on that the media are not reporting to us. It's all there in plain sight - like this exhibition - just not being packaged into news reports for us (yet. It will when big enough scandals hit then they'll say - why didn't we know?)

The eroding of safeguarding is happening on a large scale and those of us who point it out are vilified as "transphobic" or prudes who are "kink shaming".

This is a huge scandal in the making.

Soubriquet · 15/06/2019 08:50

Of course it’s ok!

I mean it’s just showing kids what it’s like to be normal right? HmmHmm

Fuck no!!

Outofinspiration · 15/06/2019 08:50

I would love to see this reported in the press as well.

I can see how it would go:

Owen Jones et al on Twitter: Yet another disgusting attempt to link LGBTQ with paedophilia. We really need to pull together to stop the reversal of our rights!

Someone sensible: but this exhibition contains rape imagery, erect penises and blokes with spears up their bum, but you can take kids to it?

Beardy wokey blokey: nice bit of kink shaming there, but obviously kids won't be allowed into that bit.

Sensible person: but why would you take kids to anything even associated with that kind of thing. Owen... Anything to say?

Owen Jones: Radio silence.

ShouldIStayOrShouldIRun · 15/06/2019 08:51

I'd say call the NSPCC...

But from what a female friend has linked this morning it looks like their own safeguarding knowledge isn't to be trusted.

Why have all these organisations suddenly gone made for protecting the right to publicise fetish sex?

OP posts:
summerofresistance · 15/06/2019 08:52

*should say, something very ROTTEN is going on here

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 15/06/2019 08:53

Why are fetishes and sexual obsessions being linked to sexual orientations?

They are piggybacking off of all the good work that was done by the lesbian, Gay and Bisexual community.

People have got to a point where they will actually support anything with a rainbow attached to it, because they no longer think critically about what they are doing.

donajimena · 15/06/2019 08:55

The term 'kink-shaming' makes me really fucking angry. I don't care about kinks. Keep them where they belong. In private. I wouldn't know about kinks if it wasn't broadcast for me to have an opinion on.
There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of if you are the opposite of vanilla between consenting adults but don't bring anyone else into it without their consent. You'd be forgiven for thinking that some people get off on exposing kinks

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 15/06/2019 08:55

Basically a lot of top positions have been infiltrated by peadophiles, which is why Peter "sex with children as young as 9 can be fine" Tatchell gets to propose changed to sex education in schools.

floraloctopus · 15/06/2019 08:56

I'm not clicking on the link but I'd say anybody taking children to such an event would be guilty of child abuse.

Kahlua4me · 15/06/2019 08:58

Words completely fail me. I do not understand how anybody can think it’s right to expose kids to this and expect those kids to process it emotionally.

What is the world coming to?

It’s not homophobic or transphobic or anything to want to shield children from inappropriate content.
It’s got nothing to do with the LGBTQ themes for me - I wouldn’t want my DCs seeing anything that depicts heterosexual sex in that way either!

Outofinspiration · 15/06/2019 09:01

This is an excerpt from Peter Tatchels's sex Ed proposals. The same Peter Tatchell who said that he knows people who had sexual relationships with adults from ages 9-13 and those relationships were consensual and gave them 'great joy'.

There is another very important reason why teachers should challenge anxieties about sex. Sexual shame helps sustain child abuse. Adults who sexually exploit youngsters often get away with it because the victims feel embarrassed or guilty about sex and are therefore reluctant to report abuse. This reluctance is reinforced by strait-laced cultural attitudes, which still linger in some quarters. They tend to regard sex as something sordid that should be kept hidden and private. These attitudes are a godsend to abusers, who depend on guilt and secrecy to carry out their molestation undetected.

To combat the sexual shame that inhibits the exposure of abusers, sex education lessons need to encourage young people to have more open and positive attitudes towards sexual matters. Pupils who feel at ease talking about sex are more likely to disclose abuse – and to thereby help stop it and bring the abusers to justice.

These proposals also suggest 'how to masturbate lessons'.

ShouldIStayOrShouldIRun · 15/06/2019 09:02

So is there nothing that can be done?

I've emailed them but it's not like they've kept this secret, they are obviously proud of it and must see nothing wrong with it. They didn't even bother to give it an age rating like the other exhibitions.

I feel quite powerless.

I've now looked up that NSPCC story properly...grim. Even more scary is their response to it, I help organise fundraisers for them at school. They have statutory powers. They are trusted to provide safeguarding advice and talks at schools.

Are they another Oxfam?

What can we actually do about it?

I mean it’s just showing kids what it’s like to be normal right?

I think It's along the lines of helping children to be liberated from society's restrictive social norms. Hmm

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/06/2019 09:03

don't actually see any evidence they're expecting primary school kids to attend the exhibition

'Teachers from the primary, secondary and higher education sector were invited to participate."

So primary school teachers were invited to attend workshop about how to use show to discuss gender

'She explained that the exhibition was very timely as it is now the 50th anniversary of the Pride March and that the exhibition was informing their summer schools programme"

"Schools programme" not secondary school programme. And the content isn't suitable for any school child.

"before we entered the room we were informed that the exhibition might not be suitable if you have a latex allergy"

But they didn't think to warn that the content was not suitable for children (of any age)

”So I approached the school programme manager and asked her, was it age-restricted? She said ‘no’ it wasn’t but that parents were given an advisory warning."

So, suitable for any age.

When in fact it is not suitable for any child, primary or not.

"There were several more photos which were really depicting various BDSM practices"

"a very close up photo of an erect penis"

"The metaphor is clear. This is a gang rape scene. The camera focus is all over the place, giving you the sense of movement in the scene, and of the confusion of the man being raped. A close up of a head fully encased in rubber being stuffed with cake. Complete dehumanisation and degradation...flashes of men tied and bound up, crouching, with what look like actual metal spikes up their arses"
