I've just spent quite a bit of money on installing a manual cat flap into our door and my cat stares at me from the other side refusing to use it! Can anyone give me advise on how to encourage him to use it?
We've tried tempting with food, posting him through it and now we've taped the flap open and he still wont go in. He'd rather cry at the door waiting to be let in.
We're also going away in a few weeks - only for 2 nights and I'd prefer to leave cat at home. (He went to a cattery before and came home with a blocked bladder so reluctant to send him again- vet believes was brought on by stress) my dad lives a few doors down so he will be popping in every day regardless to feed cat and fuss.
Any help will be appreciated.
