To be fed up with neighbors oversized back yard pool?

CarolineCoffeemugs · 13/06/2019 13:08

With the lovely weather we've been getting lately the neighbors have decided to setup an inflatable pool in their yard right next to the flimsy wooden fence separating our two properties. It's so close that part of the blow up pool is bulging through one part of the fence into my yard. This in itself isn't a problem for me, but the way in which the pool is being used and the amount of racket that is being cause because of it is driving me up the wall.

There's kids in it from dawn till dusk and they're playing quite violently, splashing and yelling etc, and sometimes I hear the fence itself shuddering from all the impacts, there's water gushing over the side into my garden and about 6-7 times a day they come round to my door asking me to return a giant inflatable flamingo, or some other pool toy that's flew over the fence.

I've had a chat with them and asked the parents to calm it down a bit, they seemed to just shrug it off. I'm just stuck here hoping the damned pool bursts from all the playing but it seems indestructible. AIBU to consider stabbing a big hole in it overnight for some peace and quiet? I'm taking suggestions as to what sharp tool to use for such a task Grin

I think a loud car horn sounding one minute after you are allowed to in the morning, or playing some really tasteless music.

DuchessDarty · 13/06/2019 18:07

*It is no longer a swimming pool because the neighbouring farm's cows escaped from the adjoining field and trashed it.

Could work?*

This suggestion by @StCharlotte is my favourite. Has the added bonus of potentially turning you into a YouTube star if you film the cow’s swimming pool escapade and the footage goes viral.

Definitely not the South East where I am. Jacket and hat weather here.
Crows are your solution though. The feckers ripped apart a paddling pool here before.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 13/06/2019 18:25

So: some birdseed then

GreenTulips · 13/06/2019 18:28

I like the bird see idea

Can you place some sharpe rocks under it over night so the weight of the kids pierce the skin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/06/2019 18:34

Take up knitting and assume position by the bulgy bit. Fling your arms with abandon when doing your increases.

The lovely weather Grin will come to
An end and everybody needs warm socks.

MoobaaMoobaa · 13/06/2019 18:35

CarolineCoffeemugs do you have weird fetish of bursting things?

how's the T-rex going these days?

LakieLady · 13/06/2019 18:57

I wonder how much jelly powder it would take to turn it from a pool into a trampoline?

Oh please do this, OP, under cover of darkness so it sets overnight, and post a video of their reaction when they come out and find they have a giant paddling pool full of jelly.

Onynx · 13/06/2019 19:39

@CarolineCoffeemugs I'm in Cork & it's Baltic here.... heating on wearing a fleece....indoors😆 where are you & can you please share the sun with the rest of the country?

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 13/06/2019 19:47

Whose fence is it? Tbh if it’s so flimsy and it’s your fence then you need to address that, irregardless if a paddling pool is touching it.

And the noice, unfortunately they are playing in their own garden, kids make noise, as long as it’s at suitable times, after 9am and before 8pm then I personally don’t see the issue.

mycatismeowican · 14/06/2019 07:44

lol great weather in Ireland? Whereabouts are you op? My mum is in the south east and it's lashing down there

mmmhazelnutchocolate · 14/06/2019 07:54

A nice cactus plant against the fence? Maybe you bought a few?

mycatismeowican · 14/06/2019 08:09

You could put some salt in it . Turn it green and rot the rubber 😏

Or just put some food colouring in it or use a pin to put tiny holes in it 😏

Stormy76 · 14/06/2019 08:09

I take it the fence isn’t yours because you seem quite relaxed about the pool bulging through it. For the few days of summer you will get ....maybe grin and bear it. You could always get a hot tub with a really noisy pump on it ......drives neighbours nuts apparently

makingmammaries · 14/06/2019 08:21

Silica gel, if you can get enough, would turn into something jellyfish-like

Branleuse · 14/06/2019 08:49

god, what a bunch of killjoys

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/06/2019 08:51

Why Branleuse swimming in jelly seems like a lot of fun.

HarryElephante · 14/06/2019 08:53

Somebody also threw snails over the fence into the pool occasionally

Appalling.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/06/2019 08:56

Somebody also threw snails over the fence into the pool occasionally

That is appalling. Those poor snails.

BaaBaaBaaMoo · 14/06/2019 08:56

I'm ireland too and had a fire on last night! Heating is off bad kids keep complaining about the house being cold let alone outside and there are hardy 😁

katewhinesalot · 14/06/2019 09:05

I'd ask them to move it away from the fence because obviously I'm concerned about the fence and I wouldn't be returning things more than once a day. Just make things more difficult for them without seeming unreasonable or actually being unreasonable. Puncturing it is mean even though I'd want to

LellyMcKelly · 14/06/2019 09:14

There’s a really good band called Ninja Sex Party. The tunes are like ‘do you like pina coladas, and dancing in the rain’ but the lyrics are FILTHY. You should play them loudly when you’re barbecuing your flamingo with peanut butter and rose bushes 😂

bridgetreilly · 14/06/2019 09:27

I would say to them that you will return things from your garden no more than once a day. Anything else will have to wait until the next day.

Deckchairandsunshine · 14/06/2019 09:36

Lelly, that’s a wonderful suggestion 🤣
Or a bit of Skid Row, get the fuck out?

RabbitseatDogs · 14/06/2019 09:45

You need this.
