To have a Halloween wedding?

Recently engaged, just bandying about ideas for the wedding. Thinking of an autumnal theme, lots of rusts and creams and burnt sienna colours yada yada. As for ‘themes’, I don’t want to go down the creepy Halloween route of tacky costumes, witches and vampires but I thought a few pumpkins and lanterns as decorations might be nice! Might be very cute to see children present (lots in the family!) dressed up in costumes, though.

However, I’m a little apprehensive that it might be

A) Cold
B) Wet
C) People might have other plans
D) A close friend’s birthday is 31st October and she can be a bit precious about birthday (FWIW she’ll likely be a bridesmaid as I was hers)

Would you have (or attend) a Halloween wedding?

Great, you could go as bride of Dracula! 🧛‍♂️

GrinGrin I was thinking more Bride of Chucky!

My parents were married on Hallowe'en. My son is getting married on 1st November - go for it if that's what you want.

I would love it , would save me going trick or treating!

I wouldn’t have one personally but would absolutely attend one! How you decorate your wedding is up to you, the guests won’t come or not come because of it.

It probably will be cold and wet but so are a lot of English summer weddings!

Hope you have a great day whatever you decide

Weekday weddings are a pain but 31 October 2020 falls on a Saturday- that wouldn't bother me at all.

NabooThatsWho · 12/06/2019 20:31

I went to one a few years back. It was just a normal wedding, no tacky dressing up! Autumnal colour theme was nice and they had a great fireworks display at the end.

You can never predict UK weather even in summer months so don’t let that hold you back. Just assume it could rain and plan accordingly!

Weekday weddings are a total pain- if Halloween happened to fall on a Weds or something I wouldn't come.

I'd be totally up for it on a Saturday though!

October and November are the dryest months in the UK.

glenthebattleostrich · 12/06/2019 20:41

I had a Halloween wedding.

We did trick or treat bags for the kids, little pumpkins as decorations and some quite cute Halloween snacks.

It's a bit of a pain in the arse now we have DD as we have a romantic evening of me wandering the streets with the child getting sweets while DH stays at home giving away sweets!! We do have a nice takeout and decent bottle of wine at 9 which is nice.

My best friend had a very traditional wedding on Halloween. It was lovely and the weather was perfect
