Just posting for traffic really, not sure what else to do!

My DP is 25 weeks pregnant, she is a nurse, we found out around 8 weeks. As soon as she found out she informed her ward that she was pregnant. From reading online they should of done a risk assessment, it took them 5 weeks to do this! She started having back pain and knee pain at around 16 weeks( she had a knee replacement 2 years ago) work wasnt interested, so she went to her doctor to get a light duty note, he gave it, the ward ignored this and expected her to do double lifts by herself, so she went back to the doctors and got a second note, they kinda accepted this note, she hasn't been given any additional breaks like it says on the government website! Today she was told she had to do double lifts and also look after a patient that has a contagious illness! She flat out refused to do it, unknowingly to her CQC inspector was stood close by and heard it, she got a bollocking by the matron. I will also had she is not from the UK!

4 weeks ago another nurse on the ward announced she is pregnant, she is English, the next day they done a risk assessment, she has been reciveing additional breaks through the 12.5 shift and is not being made to do double lifts!

I feel like she is being discriminated against and I'm not sure what to suggest she do from this point. I'm absoulty fumming

Is she a member of a trade union? If so she needs to speak to her rep.

If not she should go to HR. I'm assuming you're in the UK as you mention the CQC.

The maternity policy should state when the risk assessment is done. She needs to speak to one of the HR team and let them know exactly what you've said in this thread.

Their behaviour is unlawful and they are putting her and your unborn child at risk.

I would also suggest that she requests a referral to Occupational health and discuss her concerns in relation to her health.

Is your partner visibly different... I.e. black or Asian? Or European.

I'm amazed at how employees are treated so poorly, but I think they do it, if they think the person doesn't know any better. It's taking advantage.

I would address the bollocking by way of a grievance if it was me.
