To think 'privacy concerns' are a get out for not liking the responses?

And as another thread goes south because the OP doesn't like the responses, AIBU to think there are rarely any privacy concerns and it's just a load of old bollocks to get a thread deleted when you don't like the answers?

Whats the point of a discussion forum when if the discussion doesn't go your way you can cry off to MN and have it deleted under 'privacy concerns'.

A few years ago my SIL saw an AIBU I'd posted and guessed it was me and every additional post calling her a twunt (she was) resulted in a new barrage of abuse via text. So I asked MN to delete and they did. It's annoying when ops use it as you describe, but the alternative is that people who have posted too much outing information find it impacts on their personal lives. Yeah the answer to that is for ops to be a bit more discrete with what they lost, but some idiots me have to learn that the hard way!

*Post, not lost.

I just posted a thread about the very same thing. Didn't see this one.

It's not that annoying, is it? If the Mumsnet mods are happy to do that for posters, why do threads need to stay up?

Sparklingbrook · 11/06/2019 12:10

Best not to get too invested. MNHQ presumably weigh it up before deleting.

If a thread disappears, there are other threads.

AdobeWanKenobi · 11/06/2019 12:17

Doesn't really add much to a discussion though does it when you can get a thread pulled that easily when people disagree?

It's not about being invested, at least half of threads on here are works of fiction anyway, its about the ability to have an adult discussion without getting things you don't like deleted.
