To ask mumsnet to find me a shepherd hut in the new forest that sleeps 4?!

At my wits end trying to find a shepherd hut in the new forest that will sleep 2x adults and 2x 3 year olds. My wife has just got the all clear after a very turbulent year and I desperately want to celebrate and take her away to celebrate and for her birthday (She has always wanted to stay in a shepherd hut in the new forest!) Anyone help me to fulfil this dream! Thanks!

This one looks like it would be ok?
(If you search for "shepherds hut holiday hampshire" rather than new forest you'll get more "hits")

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/06/2019 22:05

Have a look at New Forest Escapes - they have a 2 bed pig shed, if that would substitute for a Shepherds hut?

WelcomeToGreenvale · 10/06/2019 22:12

Oh no, far too small, sorry, got excited!

Pullyers · 11/06/2019 11:53

Thanks everyone!

Does your partner actually want to spend a holiday with 2 3 year olds in a shepherd's hut? They are very small! I honestly could imagine few things less relaxing as a holiday, unless you normally share a room and go to bed at the same time as your twins. What about a cottage in the new forest (that has separate sleeping space)? So that you can put your dc to bed and your partner can relax in the evening and you can have some adult time before you head to bed yourself?

There's this one abnb.me/aVOW3aeNqX
Not in new forest, but not far, and in beautiful countryside. Has a hot tub (sex pond!) too. We stayed in it last year and it was lovely!

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 11/06/2019 12:06

There are other ones on Airbnb as well, and from memory there were some others on there too.

You need a yurt rather than a shepherds hut. They’re tiny

Pullyers · 11/06/2019 18:37

Thank you, yes many seem to sleep 2 so have been considering yurts as well. Thanks for the air b and b recommendation as well! Oh and yes we all co sleep in a giant bed, works well for us.

Have a look here - www.canopyandstars.co.uk/

All sorts of shepherds huts, yurts and similar. I stayed in a shepherds hut in Dorset through them and it was beautiful

UserN0me · 11/06/2019 18:43

You can get shepherds huts that sleep 4. Like these

www.waydownshepherdshuts.co.uk/

They are near Brighton though. Have a look on the website called pitchup

Etino · 11/06/2019 18:51

This isn’t in the right place, although south east and is amazing
Port Lympne

NoSquirrels · 11/06/2019 18:57

I think the problem is shepherd’s huts are, by design, tiny!

Can you and she go for a weekend, then take the DC somewhere else another weekend?

TheABC · 11/06/2019 19:00

If you can't leave the twins with family overnight, what about a log cabin or similar? Sandy balls have some bloody lovely ones, complete with hot tub.

bridgetreilly · 11/06/2019 19:02

I'm looking at my shepherd's hut right now and wondering how on earth you would get four people in it. Some may be a bit larger, but I don't think it would be at all fun. I think you either need to find alternative (but still lovely!) accommodation, or someone to babysit for the weekend while you enjoy the lovely romantic space for just the two of you.

Pullyers · 11/06/2019 19:03

Thanks, so many great suggestions. No, we all want to be together as a family.

I think red shoot campsite has one in the new forest

longwayoff · 11/06/2019 19:11

4? No, choose something else.
