I’m the same age as Villanelle - AIBU to feel inadequate in comparison? **Spoiler warning added by MNHQ**

She has a lot of skills for someone her age. Impressive career. Speaks several languages. Also she has an amazing wardrobe and does lots of international travel because of her work. I’m saving for a house deposit so haven’t been on holiday for 2 years.

AIBU to feel jealous/inadequate? I feel underachieving in comparison.

No I e only seen the first series.

foreverhanging · 10/06/2019 11:00

I LOVE HER. Seriously. I actually love her.

Chesntoots · 10/06/2019 11:04

She's awesome, I agree. But she's no Alice...

Downunderduchess · 10/06/2019 11:06

I'm sure if you applied yourself & were very disciplined you could catch up... good luck with the career change. GrinSmile

DarlingNikita · 10/06/2019 11:07

I want her language skills, her flat in Paris and her wardrobe.

Actually I'd quite like Eve's house too. And Carolyn's wardrobe and self-possession.

DaveCoaches · 10/06/2019 11:20

probably has zero savings. Definitely no pension. So if it's any compensation OP I don't think she could buy any flat outright and would probably default on mortgage payments.

Grin

Making me feel a lot better. Her work does sound a bit zero hours contract-y - not knowing from one week to the next what hours you will work.

But then again I don’t think Villanelle would have much time for budgeting or opening an ISA.

If I had a stunt double, wardrobe, hair/makeup and a script that tells me what languages I speak and who to pretend kill this week I would be pretty impressive too.

DarlingNikita · 10/06/2019 11:35

QueenKubauOfKish, I agree, that's what I think it's about, on one level anyway.

DaveCoaches · 10/06/2019 12:30

Thanks downunderduchess I wonder if there is a jobs board for assassins?

OP posts:
SignedUpJust4This · 10/06/2019 12:34

We didn't have any lessons on assassinating people in my school but then it was a rubbish school.

Villanellesproudmum · 10/06/2019 12:40

Her salary is high, she doesn’t pay tax so can save for these things a lot quicker Grin

ConcreteFarmer · 10/06/2019 12:59

I actually dont think she's good at her job. The ghost, really teally showed her how it's meant to be done.

Season 2 has massive plot holes, right?
Unfinished plot from season 1 - who are the twelve, whats Carolyn doing & who's side is she on. I've got last episode to go, hoping it answers these questions.

This thread is funny tho.
Nah I like her very few good qualities (fashion sense, no shits given attitude, doesnt quit) but not envious of her life.

Vilanelle · 10/06/2019 13:14

I love the idea of being an Assassin or a gangster. I would of course, only kill evil people

CornishMaid1 · 10/06/2019 13:39

There are likely two big problems you have.

The first is that, I am guessing, you are from the UK. We don't have the same education with languages. Other countries start children learning English very young and learning more than one language at a young age makes it easier to learn languages.

The second is that you are saving for a house deposit. Villanelle would not do that - she would just find one she likes, kill the owner and move in.

Assassins are also very well paid, so she can afford a lot more. Perhaps a change of career is needed. Not sure how you get into assassin work though......

Patroclus · 10/06/2019 13:41

Have a gander at Black Dolphin. Russian Prison wouldnt be worth it i reckon.

Allabitmuchisntit · 10/06/2019 13:41

If I had to be a murdering psychopath, then I'd be her.

I'm very jealous of her apartment.

pinkcardi · 10/06/2019 13:45

I have the same fireplace as her

MotherWol · 10/06/2019 13:50

So many questions: does she work out? It seems like you'd need to be quite strong to do that kind of work, and I'm not sure where you'd find the time for the gym. For someone who loves shopping, I feel we're not seeing the hours spent waiting in for the delivery guy, or the trips to the dry cleaners to get blood out of a couture gown. She doesn't seem like she'd want to clean that apartment - does she have a cleaner, and why haven't they found the wigs & weapons stash?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2019 13:52

does she work out?

I seem to remember some exercise equipment in her apartment in series 1.

BruceAndNosh · 10/06/2019 13:53

I suspect I've killed as many people as her.
But to be fair, my cooking has improved a lot recently

PatriciaHolm · 10/06/2019 13:53

How are you at cold blooded assassination?

Ohyesiam · 10/06/2019 13:57

Lots of people on here today who have a strong relationship with the bleedin obvious.Grin

DaveCoaches · 10/06/2019 14:07

Fair point. I can see the neighbours popping round, asking where Brian is.

V: Who’s Brian?

LaurieMarlow · 10/06/2019 14:10

I’m so in love with her.

I want her wardrobe and her many, many accents. And her chutzpah.

I think it’s the Russian prisons OP. You’ll get all you need there.

And in the end, all she ever wanted was to watch films with Constantin (and shag Eve). All those skillz don’t make her happy.

ApocalypseNowt · 10/06/2019 14:12

I've got a GCSE in Russian and once got kept behind at school for a class detention so we're pretty much twins.
