To ask when your DC started to sleep through

Probably been done a million times on here, but when did it happen for you?

As a baby I slept through from 6 weeks. My son is the same age now and I feel that we are so far away from that happening.

If he did start "sleeping through" at this age I'd probably panic and wake him up anyway! 🙈

Though not teach lol

2toe · 10/06/2019 14:02

Around four months for my elder two, five very long years for my youngest 😭

threetimesover · 10/06/2019 14:02

From 5 months old

updownleftrightstart · 10/06/2019 14:08

My DD started sleeping right through at 10 days. Yes, I know how incredibly lucky we are!

SushiTime · 10/06/2019 14:16

This is the only area my child excels in. Sleep, he's always loved it. At 6 weeks he was having his last feed at 11.30 then would sleep until 6.30/7 feel then sleep until 10ish. No idea how or why just was told how lucky I was. He's just turned 5 now and on a weekend I end up waking him around 8/9 🤣

And people wonder why I don't want to risk having another...

Stompythedinosaur · 10/06/2019 14:25

Mine started sleeping through sometimes at 18 months and reliably slept through at 3.

WhiteRedRose · 10/06/2019 14:25

18 months. Just slept through one night like a switch had been flipped.

Tigger001 · 10/06/2019 14:26

14 months he was consistently sleeping through and now at 22months waking again with his molars.

I think it's just when they are ready, it made no difference of full stomach, naps in the day or how active or inactive.

alfie22 · 10/06/2019 14:57

@SushiTime ooooh I'm hoping for the same with mine then!!

Probably not what you want to hear but...

DD slept through fairly reliably from about 2. She stil gets up in the night sometimes now, and she’s nearly 4 (that’s years, not weeks/months!)

DS...I’ll let you know. Last night he did 8pm-5.15am and that’s the longest he’s ever gone without waking. He’s 20 months.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 10/06/2019 16:11

My 4 year old has been mostly sleeping through for 2 years. My 2 year old has still never slept through 😴

bluecitygirl · 10/06/2019 16:35

Child one - 8 weeks
Child two - 2 1/2 years
Child three - 1
Child four - still waiting and she is 8

Owlbert · 10/06/2019 19:57

Eldest 6 weeks exactly, youngest 7 weeks exactly. Both 13/14 hours per night.
Neither were/are big nappers though, 2 small naps approx 10-30mins each. Sometimes just one nap a day.
I was terrified (and sure!) My 2nd wouldn't sleep but I was proven wrong!
Never woke to feed as they were both putting on weight, but used to check they were breathing regularly (and still do)!
Apparently I slept through (12 hours+) from 4 weeks and my sister's children were good sleepers too so I always wonder how much is genetic.

TowerRavenSeven · 10/06/2019 19:58

12 Weeks to the day

FudgeBrownie2019 · 10/06/2019 20:01

DS1 was around 9 weeks when he began doing proper long sleeps from 11pm - 7am. It was like a lovely little miracle.

DS2 is 8 years old and still feels sleep is an unnecessary waste of time he could be causing trouble. He was at school before he began sleeping through regularly and even now he'll be up a couple of nights a week.

DS2 is my punishment for being ever so slightly smug with DS1.

alfie22 · 10/06/2019 20:03

I'm hoping DS has another long stretch of sleep tonight!

My twins did 12 hrs from 5 months old.

Montsti · 10/06/2019 20:11

Ds - 4 months but regressed big time from 15 months-3 years old
Dd1 - 7 months (my best sleeper by far - now 7)
Dd2 - 10 months but regressed from 2-3 years old
Dd3 - currently 21 months and no sign of sleeping through anytime soon...my worst sleeper by far😩😴😴

Lazypuppy · 10/06/2019 21:37

4 months and hasn't changed, shes 18months now

Jimdandy · 10/06/2019 21:59

Depends what you call sleeping through.

Bed at 7ish with dream feed at 10pm and sleeping until (mostly) 7am was 6.5 weeks for daughter and 9 weeks for son.

Dropped dream feed when they were eating a lot more food about 8/9 months.

Both Gina Ford “lite” babies.

So basically I followed the feed times and encouraged the sleeping times. Though both were different. Daughters natural routine fitted Gina Ford perfectly, so never had 3 naps and quickly went to have a long nap after 2pm feed. He slept a lot less in the days and always preferred to sleep more at night. They were both in their own rooms from week 3, we were constantly wake each other up.

I didn’t do any of the dark room, have a piece of toast thing. They just slept in their pushchairs when we were out etc.

Please don’t hate on me, it was the right decision for me and my family and did not involve any crying out at all (despite the frequent misconceptions about her book).

Marilynmansonsthermos · 11/06/2019 00:42

I don't want to depress anyone but my son was 3 years old! That's despite me night weaning at 14 months.
