Broken shoulder. Can’t get comfy. Anyone awake?

I’m awake after stupidly self-diagnosing myself with pancreatic cancer and now health anxiety at full whack. I know I’m a massive twat but my body is full of adrenaline or something and heart racing.

Fist bump to everyone awake and not wanting to be 👊

FirmlyRooted · 10/06/2019 00:30

I just arrived in NY, so tired I can't see straight but need to stay up another 2hrs. Here for work, it'll be a crazy week of 12hr days, and really wish I was back home.

Flowers for those of you in pain and worrying

MaxStress · 10/06/2019 00:30

Me.

Told a few week back my contract was being extended. Found out Friday it's not.

I have £3.50 in the bank and 5 days of paid work left. The two combined won't even make my mortgage payment due on 1 July.

Fucked if I know what I'm going to do.

lonelysleep · 10/06/2019 00:31

Anxiety for me too, bad day with panic attack this afternoon and ocd.

Also got tooth/jaw ache and 2 painful mouth ulcers :( can't afford a trip to the dentist.

I hope we all get some rest eventually tonight Thanks

lookingatthings · 10/06/2019 00:31

I love him being next to me, DH not so much.
Did the bike fare better than you?

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 10/06/2019 00:32

Stay typing if you feel anxious. Seems there’s a few of us awake. I can’t wait for GP surgery to open so I can demand ( nicely)!something to help. I long for the gorgeous doctor who said “ is it ok if we put you to sleep while we reduce your shoulder?”

Yes. Yes. Very ok.

Me - am in Australia so am supposed to be up, but was up all night wondering if My marriage is dead.

lonelysleep · 10/06/2019 00:34

@Whoopstheregomyinsides hope you get the good stuff tomorrow and have some rest during the day, is calling 111 not an option? OOH will be able to prescribe you some stronger pain killers. X

Enidthecat · 10/06/2019 00:35

Me. Trying to put 2 week old baby DD down in crib, but she has wind and is wiggly.

justilou1 · 10/06/2019 00:35

BTW you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen together (not on empty stomach) if you stick to their usual dosages and timings. This may help you get a bit comfier!!!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 10/06/2019 00:36

What a mix up we are Hope little guy gets rehydrates soon. Such a worry when they’re little. My eldest was just about to be admitted when he voluntarily took a big drink and they let us home. Flashback. Hope there’s a new job just round the corner for you.
My DH has decamped as I’m taking up so much room with pillows

Signing in! I'm insomniac and feeling a bit manic so I'll be kicking about for a while Grin

Bloodybridget · 10/06/2019 00:39

Good to find a thread for non-sleepers! I have self-diagnosed postsurgical neuropathy following a massive gynae op two weeks ago, horrible pain in legs which is worse at night. Have been awake most of last three nights and feeling desperate now - I've just rubbed Voltarol gel in and taken another cocodamol in the hope of easing it. Like pp with broken shoulder (ouch) I'm going to see a GP tomorrow for something more effective.

Sympathy and good wishes to everyone else.

FabulouslyFab · 10/06/2019 00:40

I’m awake with my alarm set for 5;30am. Spent too much time standing on Saturday and have suffered all day with back pain. Trying to get comfortable and hoping it’s better by the time I wake up - if I sleep!
Wishing us all sweet dreams!

mumofwantwomany · 10/06/2019 00:41

Anyone got anything nice planned for tomorrow? Or the rest of the week?

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 10/06/2019 00:43

Night time is weird. Everything seems amplified and harder to deal with. My whole house is asleep. I should’ve known it would be hard to sleep when sofa wasn’t comfy. I did ok last night in my”nest” but not tonight.

Tanikay · 10/06/2019 00:44

Me. Husband & I had an amazing Sunday roast and a few glasses of wine at a pub. We came home around 5pm and had a two hour snooze so now I can’t sleep. It’s fine though as we’re both off tomorrowGrin

BillywigSting · 10/06/2019 00:47

op Codine phosphate (not co codamol), paracetamol and ibuprofen all together are good for shoulder pain.

If they try to give you naproxen make sure they give you a stomach protecter drug ad well otherwise you'll just end up swapping shoulder pain for intense abdominal pain (bitter voice of experience). Can't take naproxen with ibuprofen either, but it can be taken with codine and paracetamol

BlackPrism · 10/06/2019 00:47

I'm a night owl, have tomorrow off. Often awake at this time

42isthemeaning · 10/06/2019 00:48

I'm awake! Should be asleep though as up early. Have been doing a job app for internal promotion which I do and don't want! Thanks to everyone who's struggling and to you op with your shoulder pain. I've got shooting pains in my big toe joint - ouch! It's been like that for an hour now.

MyNameIsCharlesII · 10/06/2019 00:49

Yeah nighttime is the worst for literally anything. And I know because I’m not sleeping tonight I’ll be tired tomorrow and the anxiety will be even worse tomorrow evening argh. I’ve made a GP appt online to discuss my (self) fatal diagnosis but every time I try and sleep my stomach does a bloop thing and the worry is back.

Hope everyone needing pain relief gets what they need in the morning. I recall sobbing down the phone to my gp got me some nice strong cocodamol one time Grin They didn’t actually help at the time but I’ve got some left which I use if I need to and they are the shizz.

ImposterSyndrome101 · 10/06/2019 00:51

I’m up, waiting till the baths free so I can wash my hair (the joy of a one bathroom home). At a funeral tomorrow so feeling very low and all over the place. Combine that with my general anxiety, worries and massive decisions I need to make soon along with changes I want to make there’s little chance of me sleeping at all.

BillywigSting · 10/06/2019 00:52

If you have some co codamol knocking around (you can get it over the counter in pharmacy) you can take that together with ibuprofen too. Take them with a bit of food /big glass of milk and you'll be grand.
Co codamol has paracetamol in it already though so don't take any other stuff with it in or you'll end up with a paracetamol od

steff13 · 10/06/2019 00:55

I'm up, but it's not quite 8pm here. We're eating Chinese food and watching Postcards from Buster on PBS.
