To phone the maternity department because of a feeling?

I'm 41 weeks and have had a feeling like something is wrong all afternoon. Nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. Sort of like dread but I don't know why.

I can't tell if I'm just fed up of being pregnant or something is wrong. I'm still getting movements (maybe less than usual, I don't know, it's never been in a reliable pattern, but then am I just making up reasons to try and explain this feeling?!) Anyway, I tried the fizzy drink and lay down trick and felt the baby moving.

So AIBU to want to phone the maternity department because I just feel odd? Is there anything they'd even be able to do?!

I was induced with DC 2 and 3. Everything takes a lifetime. My advice is to let DH know but say that it's likely to be in the morning but to remain contactable. Try to rest because I wouldn't be surprised if you don't hear anything for hours. With my second I was put into a wheelchair to be taken to be induced and moved from one ward to delivery and then the turned me around and said next day! Not what you want to hear but just be prepared. If you get to tomorrow before being induced then don't be afraid to get forceful. I found that when I was patient I was low priority and ended up being repeatedly pushed down the list.

Good luck!

Iv has two inductions one gel 38 wks other peasant at 40+1 weeks I had no problem with them at all. Gas and air and a sweep oh and popped waters as I wouldn't dilate. But both born within 24 hours 😀

Good luck op!

I was just coming on after seeing the title to say go and get checked! I had a 34 weeker due to similar feelings, went to get checked and baby needed out NOW. 😊 hopefully you will soon have your new squishy baby in your arms soon

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, you're all so lovely!
There's not enough free staff here at the moment so they want to wait until morning to start things off. Disappointing, but I'm happy there's a plan now. Going to try and get a good night's sleep if such a thing is possible on a hospital ward and hopefully meet my baby tomorrow!

How exciting! My third was an induction. It was my best labour by far. Pessary in at 11am, labour ward at 8pm, baby at 3am. It was amazing. FX you have a lovely experience too!

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 10/06/2019 08:38

Hurray! I had two inductions, they were fine. I had an epidural both times before they even started the drip (I was high risk for an EMCS so they wanted the line in beforehand), so it was a very relaxed experience!

greyby25 · 10/06/2019 08:58

Good luck for today. I had an amazing induction last August, was very quick and easy. Pessary and drip. Hope it all goes well for you.

Still nothing happening here. Delivery ward is quite busy today so just waiting on a bed before they can break my waters.
Got a feeling I'm in for a long wait Sad
