To phone the maternity department because of a feeling?

I'm 41 weeks and have had a feeling like something is wrong all afternoon. Nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. Sort of like dread but I don't know why.

I can't tell if I'm just fed up of being pregnant or something is wrong. I'm still getting movements (maybe less than usual, I don't know, it's never been in a reliable pattern, but then am I just making up reasons to try and explain this feeling?!) Anyway, I tried the fizzy drink and lay down trick and felt the baby moving.

So AIBU to want to phone the maternity department because I just feel odd? Is there anything they'd even be able to do?!

It's so hard with all the waiting. I had it the over way around with desperate to get home. Baby born Monday evening by emergency section by Thursday 8 was desperate to get out of prison. No sleep. No peace. Horrible midwives. Told myself Saturday evening and got out Saturday lunch s felt like a win.

Baby two and three I made it plain I wanted out sooner than possible.

Good luck.

So glad you’re being cared for. Good luck!
I’ve been induced twice. It can be intense as it can ramp up pretty quickly but non induced labour is no picnic either.
Good luck again Flowers

Good luck hope you get your squishy newborn cuddles soon!

Crunchymum · 10/06/2019 11:11

Sorry to hear you are going to be in for a bit of a wait. Rest, eat, sleep, and keep calm!

I had an induction with DC3. Had the 24h pessary in...... immediate niggles that went on for 22h, then labour "proper" and baby was born after about 20 minutes!!

purplecatt · 10/06/2019 11:35

Thanks for you op. I went in on a Thursday, was induced Saturday, emergency c section on the Saturday night. Then another 7 days in hospital. Felt like everything moved slowly.

LadyRannaldini · 10/06/2019 13:54

I went into hospital after waters broke and nothing happened. Next day they said they would induce me tomorrow, that evening I had a lot of twinges, as I'd not slept the night before because of a light left on, the sister gave me a couple of sleeping tablets after she'd had a prod.
'When are they likely to start the induction tomorrow?'
'Oh you'll have had it by then, you're well on the way!
'Then why have you just given me a couple of sleeping tablets?'
'Oh, shit!'
It was a long nght!

Ring ring ring!
I will never forget the time I had been caring for a patient on the antenatal ward. Nothing clinically had changed re. Patients symptoms/observations/fetal wellbeing. I just had a feeling - asked the senior registrar to come and review. She reviewed - initially agreed that nothing had changed, continue with our ongoing management plan. 15 mins later, she rang me and said ‘I also have a feeling, bring her over to delivery suite’. Within about 5 minutes of arriving on delivery suite the patient suffered an obstetric emergency - her outcome could have been very different had she not been on delivery suite at that time.

We had no way of predicting that but both myself and the doctor trusted our ‘feelings’. Not to say that any ‘feeling’ always means something bad, but it has taught me to trust my gut .

pollymere · 10/06/2019 17:55

If you find your induction painful ask for gas and air. I was induced three days in a row and they only offered on the third day!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 10/06/2019 17:56
