To phone the maternity department because of a feeling?

I'm 41 weeks and have had a feeling like something is wrong all afternoon. Nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. Sort of like dread but I don't know why.

I can't tell if I'm just fed up of being pregnant or something is wrong. I'm still getting movements (maybe less than usual, I don't know, it's never been in a reliable pattern, but then am I just making up reasons to try and explain this feeling?!) Anyway, I tried the fizzy drink and lay down trick and felt the baby moving.

So AIBU to want to phone the maternity department because I just feel odd? Is there anything they'd even be able to do?!

Nogodsnomasters · 09/06/2019 22:39

Aww good luck!! Have you ever been induced before? The pessary worked for me after about an hour I started to feel crampy, after 3 hours I was having regular contractions.

yellowgreenbluepurple · 09/06/2019 22:41

Good luck 😁

Whatsername7 · 09/06/2019 22:47

I was induced too - it took 3 hours from the pessary being inserted to labour starting. Then, 2 hours after that they broke my waters, dd2 was here 90
minutes later!

Whatsername7 · 09/06/2019 22:47

Good luck!

Glad you went in. I was 41 weeks and had a bad feeling too. When I went in and was put on the monitor baby's heartbeat was a bit slow, which apparently was fine. I kept being annoying which I'm glad I was as it turned out my baby had the cord wrapped around her neck twice,(they only found out when she was delivered) had to go into theatre for emergency delivery! It was a close call and luckily all was ok in the end but happy I was so persistent with the midwife! Good luck tonight, hope it's a smooth labour! X

ThePerturbedPenguin · 09/06/2019 23:07

Yay glad you’re being induced!

Good look OP I am sure all will be fine and little one will be here soon 😀

AnotherRubberDuck · 09/06/2019 23:20

Never had an induction before. Both my previous 2 were spontaneous labours at 39 weeks so this is all new territory!

STILL waiting to be examined. Why does everything take so long here?! So don't have a plan yet, but I'm assuming they won't induce until the morning now??

DH and babysitters are on standby but I can't let them know until I get told what's happening. Wish they'd hurry up so I can go to sleep know what their plan is!

Good luck Flowers

Well done for trusting your instincts

Don’t panic if the pessary does nothing - it didn’t for me the first time round. I still had my baby in my arms later that same day tho after a fairly easy labour on the drip

BlackeyedGruesome · 09/06/2019 23:24

Good luck.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 09/06/2019 23:24

All the best Op Thanks

firesong · 09/06/2019 23:27

I'd try to sleep anyway if I were you. Very exciting though. Hope it's an easy enough labour, and seems you will be meeting your little one very soon Smile

firesong · 09/06/2019 23:28

I was induced with my second and it really made the labour zoom from zero to full throttle very quickly (it's recorded as 36 minutes and felt much quicker!)
