To phone the maternity department because of a feeling?

I'm 41 weeks and have had a feeling like something is wrong all afternoon. Nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. Sort of like dread but I don't know why.

I can't tell if I'm just fed up of being pregnant or something is wrong. I'm still getting movements (maybe less than usual, I don't know, it's never been in a reliable pattern, but then am I just making up reasons to try and explain this feeling?!) Anyway, I tried the fizzy drink and lay down trick and felt the baby moving.

So AIBU to want to phone the maternity department because I just feel odd? Is there anything they'd even be able to do?!

I suspect they will look at inducing, you are overdue now anyway so maybe it's time to get things started!
Good luck x

KitKat1985 · 09/06/2019 20:12

I'm glad you are being checked over OP. Let us know how you get on. x

Apolloanddaphne · 09/06/2019 20:12

Even if there are no problems you will feel reassured and more relaxed which is important with impending birth.

AnotherRubberDuck · 09/06/2019 20:16

Yes, Thursday got a button to press. Only pressed it 3 times in half an hour though. I'd say that's unusual for this baby.

I can't believe how relieved I am about a person I don't know being in hospital.

Hope all is well.

DoctorDread · 09/06/2019 21:00

Wishing you and baby well op!

sherbetmelon · 09/06/2019 21:01

Glad you've been seen. I had a 'feeling' and was worried about movements, went in and got checked like you and my contractions started while I was hooked up to the machine. I'd bet you go into labour very soon! Good luck! X

Tilly28 · 09/06/2019 21:03

Very glad you went in to get checked.

Whatsername7 · 09/06/2019 21:07

Same thing happened to me. I went in, was monitored as you are being, was induced. Dd2 was born healthy but tangled in the cord. Good luck op, im sure everything will be fine and you are in the right place.

AnotherRubberDuck · 09/06/2019 21:12

Apparently the trace looks fine. And baby woke up to have a party for the last 15 mins. Makes me feel happier.
Just got to wait for a doctor to sign off on it now (apparently could be some wait at this time of night).

Trouble is they've got no other ladies in antenatal so they've moved me round to postnatal, I'm stuck on a ward with ladies who all have their squishy newborns. Really not what I want when I'm 8 days overdue!!

Don't feel remotely labour-y and they're probably going to just send me back home 😭

So glad you went OP and all is well xx

Thanks for a speedy arrival now x

Twinkledontinkle · 09/06/2019 21:22

Can you ask for a sweep? Might move things along a bit.

NameWithChange · 09/06/2019 21:28

Go round and have a good sniff of the newborns (if the Mums don't mind!!) and maybe a cuddle - supposed to help kick start things!

carly2803 · 09/06/2019 22:10

ask for a sweep!!

i did 7 days over and they insisted on kicking things off !

christinarossetti19 · 09/06/2019 22:21

That's good news OP. Hearing the heartbeat and a partying baby are very reassuring!

What's your plan re: going forward at 8 days overdue?

AnotherRubberDuck · 09/06/2019 22:23

Woop woop been offered induction! Looks like I'm here for the night. Sweep now and pessary or they might break my waters in the morning. Not really sure whats going on but very excited at the prospect of getting to meet my baby soonish
