Seriously, Mariella? A nice problem to have?

I could cry reading this. This woman is being groped by her friend's husband, and Mariella thinks it is nice problem to have?
She even goes in to imply the woman might be encouraging it.
FFS!

Omg that's disgusting I'm so angry at her comment it's not acceptable for anyone to do that !

nevernotstruggling · 09/06/2019 18:53

Wtf?

Lady: I'm being sexually harnessed what shall I do?

Mariella: stop being so ungrateful!!!!

If the lady posted on here the answers would be much more sympathetic!

Ravenclawclassof84 · 09/06/2019 18:53

In response to some tweets regarding this column, she said she was baffled regarding the "histrionics" around it. Her arrogance is unreal.

MorondelaFrontera · 09/06/2019 18:58

I think the original letter does deserve a bit of sarcasm. ONE husband hitting on you, there's something very wrong. ALL your friends husbands hitting on you? Really?

So for that reason, I get the reply, it's as serious as the original letter was if that makes sense.

Stressedout10 · 09/06/2019 18:59
Shock sorry no words just Shock
JoyceDivision · 09/06/2019 19:02

She's hideous and one of many reasons why I stopped buying the crappy paper ages ago.

Her advice always was waffle that skirted round the issue in question and never gave any thing substantial as a reply

Fibbke · 09/06/2019 19:03

Mariella frostrups surge of libido is because she is taking testosterone plus lots of other hormones. Nothing wrong with either of those things, I'm on HRT myself, but its disingenuous to suggest all post menopausal women have a surge in sexual desire.

toomuchtooold · 09/06/2019 19:30

The comments on the article should restore your faith in human nature though - most people called it the way you (and I) see it. No wonder rape is still underreported if this "hrm, are you really that upset though or are you secretly chuffed to be noticed" view is still getting airtime in a decent paper.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 09/06/2019 19:36

Can't stand Mariella. She rarely gives good advice, if indeed you can pick out any advice from her overblown wordiness. I usually can't make head or tail of what she's trying to say.

RubberTreePlant · 10/06/2019 05:58

Can't stand Mariella. She rarely gives good advice,

Very true.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 10/06/2019 06:14

Thus doesn't surprise me. I have never seen the point of her column. Flippant, self-important answers that ignore the issues on whatever questions she's asked. Like the Guardian it seems dated, irrelevant and out of touch.

goodgirlinchachaheels · 10/06/2019 10:03

She is always so full of shit. Her advice is rubbish, and she is really good at victim blaming. How did she get that job?

Fibbke · 10/06/2019 10:09

I think it's really a column for her to show off her overblown writing, as she certainly doesn't seem to give any actual advice. She does that really annoying thing where she makes everything about her as well.

RuffleCrow · 10/06/2019 10:12

That may be the worst response i've ever read.

It's about 99% projection and Mariella basically saying 'well if this old bat has still got it at 60 them i should have no problem!' Whilst completely ignoring the fact that she's actually being sexually assaulted. Angry

JeezOhGeeWhizz · 10/06/2019 10:13

She is a disgrace.
