I have a close family member whose emetophobia is starting to spiral out of control. They have had CBT, hypnotherapy, anti depressants. I am seriously concerned for them.

Can anyone recommend any treatments that might help please? They have a primary aged child and them starting school has seen a massive increase in their behaviours. I don’t know how to help them.

Sorry to hear of their troubles with this. I have it too and it’s truly horrible. Working in a primary school sure isn’t the most helpful thing!

I can’t recommend much but I would suggest they get back in contact with the doctors who could maybe get them some more intense CBT

Thank you finebyme99, they have just referred themselves back to CBT but is concerned as last time it made no difference. I think you are very brave managing to work in a primary school whilst suffering like that.

They may find that seeing a different therapist with different ideas and skills might make a whole lot of changes that weren’t looked at before. I hope they’re able to get something in place soon

My daughter had severe emetophobia as a teen and saw a "Thrive" therapist. Amazing results. Totally cured her of it.

Thanks malloo, did you do the workbook or see someone in person? What did they do with you? Thanks
