Can you imagine if BoJo stays leader of the country, enables a no-deal Brexit, and thinks Trump will be the UK's friend, and allows him to make all the running? I despair.
Sorry, better go away again, I can't do this. My world, in political/social terms, has come crumbling down round me. More fool me for not finalising getting my French passport all those years ago, because I couldn't be bothered with the red tape, though I'd done most of it, when I was young enough, and for blithely telling the husband, why on earth do I need another EU passport when I'm British! I'll never live that down. But I honestly never dreamed we would get to this state.

Hmmm, wonder if I can get one based on; "Those born outside of the UK between 1 January 1949 and 31 December 1982 and who have a UK-born grandparent may be able to claim British nationality in certain circumstances".

I'd give anything right now for a non-US passport, even if they stipulated that I'd have to give it back when Scrotus is defenestrated. Oops....I meant dethroned, of course. Grin

At least I now know that US citizens are eligible to apply for refugee status and/or political asylum in Canada!!

Well Merde, I'd just like to have a non-US one to show if I travel to 'furrin parts'. When GW Bush got us into the Iraq War it was surprising the number of people who felt entitled to give you their (ahem) political opinion of the US (and occasionally you) when they realized you were from the US. My son and his friend were in Austria and got so much grief they started speaking to each other in Spanish when out in public or would claim to be Canadian!

BTW, sounds as if you & I are in the same age bracket!

I think it is only because of letters written home by the French ambassador that we know about James I's eating habits... And I bet he would have preferred them to be veiled in diplomatic silence too!
