This is very interesting, Epstein-Barr
That's part of the herpes family isn't it, seems fitting

cozietoesie · 08/07/2019 22:09

Another recusal!

Whosorrynow · 08/07/2019 22:11

Has Barr finally taken the opportunity to wriggle free?

'Significantly, the indictment covers conduct occurring not only at Epstein’s Manhattan mansion but also at his home in Palm Beach, Florida. The indictment alleges that Epstein worked with several employees and associates to entice girls as young as 14 to come to his homes to perform sex acts in exchange for money. He used some of the girls to recruit other minor victims by paying them, building a “vast network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit.” The indictment alleges that he targeted girls who were, “for various reasons, often particularly vulnerable to exploitation.”'

'Sally Yates tried to warn us. Way back in January 2017, at the end of the very first week of the Trump administration, the new president signed an executive order banning refugees and immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States. It was a blatantly political act, following months of Trump campaign promises, and it immediately provoked lawsuits challenging the order as religious discrimination. Yates, the acting attorney general, refused to defend the legally indefensible and was summarily fired. “The president is attempting to dismantle the rule of law, destroy the time-honored independence of the Justice Department, and undermine the career men and women who are devoted to seeking justice day in and day out,” Yates wrote in a New York Times op-ed published in July 2017.'

More:

'Matthew Miller, a Justice Department spokesman under President Obama. “Now he’s got an A.G. who will talk publicly about the Democrats ‘spying’ and spin the Mueller report to help the president. One big question that flows from that is, What does it mean for the Southern District of New York’s investigation into the Trump Organization?”'

'Felix Sater, a former business associate of President Donald Trump who was the chief negotiator for the defunct Trump Tower Moscow project, will testify before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday morning, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The closed-door interview will cap a protracted back-and-forth between Sater and the panel, which has rescheduled his appearance several times since he was first slated to appear in March.'

Thanks for the interesting earthquake article, cozie. I grew up in Southern California and have been through 3 major quakes and myriad momentary shakes and tremors. Luckily for us (family) no injuries and only one did anything, a few pictures falling off the walls. Most Southern Californians are pretty blasé about quakes. My cousin just jumped when the recent ones hit but then just sat through them. Heck, the LA Dodgers (Go Blue!) didn't even stop playing ball and you could see the cameras shaking.

lionheart - thank you for taking the time and trouble with that WP article - I appreciated your "long story short" at the end as I actually understood your cut to the chase, as it were!
I'm going to have to subscribe to the WP, amn't I, there is so much good in it. Ditto, the New Yorker!

It's quite a long piece and well worth reading entire. Smile

'He said he hoped everyone had a great July 4th weekend — and added that the Fourth had always been a “touchy holiday for us Brits.” “In fact, the President made a very good point in his speech the other night,” Jagger deadpanned. “He said, ‘If only the British had held on to the airports, the whole thing might have gone differently for us.’”

Jeffrey Epstein’s Sick Story Played Out for Years in Plain Sight
How did the New York financier stay nearly untouchable for decades? Vicky Ward—who has reported extensively on Epstein, on efforts to rehabilitate him—finds out what’s changed.

My heart goes out to the women who have so bravely testified, and have had to wait all these years.

One of the (many) questions is, where has Epstein's money been coming from all his life?

Lweji · 09/07/2019 14:49

I don't think that Dulles image is real, but this one is. Taken with a phone too.

'NEW YORK (AP) — A federal grand jury in New York is investigating top Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy, examining whether he used his position as vice chair of President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee to drum up business deals with foreign leaders, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press and people familiar with the matter.'

'Time for a Mueller report reality check: Only a small segment of America’s most powerful have read it.

President Donald Trump can’t give a straight answer about the subject. More than a dozen members of Congress readily admitted to POLITICO that they too have skipped around rather than studying every one of the special counsel report’s 448 pages. And despite the report technically ranking as a best-seller, only a tiny fraction of the American public has actually cracked the cover and really dived in.'

(after reading the Elliott Broidy article) I am starting to wonder whether anyone associated with Trump is not a crook in one way or another, whether it's bribes and financial malfeasance or sexual felonies or ordinary theft.

Well, no, I suppose some might just be habitual liars rather than outright criminal. But I'm not sure how much better that is.
