That last articleof yours is staggering lion

lionheart · 27/06/2019 10:25

Yes, it is awful.

Looks like Warren made the best impression in the debate (judging by the comments on social media).

Alabama woman loses unborn child after being shot, gets arrested; shooter goes free
www.al.com/news/birmingham/2019/06/woman-indicted-in-shooting-death-of-her-unborn-child-charges-against-shooter-dismissed.html

Marshae Jones, a 27-year-old Birmingham woman, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on a manslaughter charge. She was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Though Jones didn’t fire the shots that killed her unborn baby girl, authorities say she initiated the dispute that led to the gunfire. Police initially charged 23-year-old Ebony Jemison with manslaughter, but the charge against Jemison was dismissed after the grand jury failed to indict her.
[...]
Reid said the fight stemmed over the unborn baby’s father. The investigation showed, he said, that it was Jones who initiated and pressed the fight, which ultimately caused Jemison to defend herself and unfortunately caused the death of the baby.
[...]
The 5-month fetus was "dependent on its mother to try to keep it from harm, and she shouldn’t seek out unnecessary physical altercations,” Reid added.

Yes, it's coming to this. Sad

Whosorrynow · 27/06/2019 12:08

The Alabama woman case is extremely disturbing it paves the way for women to be completely controlled and dominated whilst they are pregnant

Whosorrynow · 27/06/2019 12:11

It also starts to look like genocide by the back door, if becoming pregnant means that you now are the property of the government and anything you do can be seen as a potential attack on your unborn child, well I would be very reluctant to become pregnant or I would want to hide the pregnancy
Maybe I'm not getting the implications this one right but it seems very sinister to me

Whosorrynow · 27/06/2019 12:17

From the comments section under the article.....
'If this is the future, then we must start turning all pregnant women over to state supervision and confining them to insure the baby is born healthy. It has become apparent women are incapable of making good choices so government has an obligation to insure no harm comes to their fetus'

This is where they are going on this isn't it, women are no longer people they are machines owned by the state and used for the purposes of producing new humans

gah! Why do they have to add music? Don't they think it is interesting enough to old our attention without background noise?

And oh boy it is interesting enough. I think Trump would be more upset by her attitude of "he was just another bloody nuisance", the tenor of her remarks, than by the accusation itself. The fact that she really didn't find him all that important, just another man like many others, would be gall and wormwood to him.

Good. I hope he is fuming impotently about that.

Supreme Court has ruled gerrymandering can continue. The ruling states that federal courts have no jurisdiction in deciding court cases. They ruled that gerrymandering 'isn't compatible' with democratic principles, but that cases must be decided at the state level.

This is a double edged sword. It could benefit Dems as well as Repugs. IF the Dems decide that they must fight fire with fire.

AcrossthePond55 · 27/06/2019 16:47

Wait. I misstated that. They didn't rule that gerrymandering can continue, just that the federal courts shouldn't get involved. Bad wording on my part!

This tweet links to a video. It isn’t a “readout”. The WH has a new Press Secretary, but it doesn’t appear to be the one advertised.

The White House @WhiteHouse
President Trump had a trilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abe, followed by a bilateral meeting with PM Modi. Here is the readout:

I like Kamala (not that I know much). She comes across as a strong woman who knows her stuff.

Lweji · 28/06/2019 11:15

Of all the jobs that Ivanka could have at the WH, spokesperson for dad is probably the most appropriate.
Perhaps she is able to translate his ramblings.
But, at least KAC will have someone to flog the Trump corporation for her.

Lweji · 28/06/2019 11:18

I like Kamala too. I hope she doesn't burn out too soon.
