AIBU to think this is the estate agents job not mine.

I’m the exceutor of a will, I’ve not sold any property beforehand, I think I have done ok so far.

Chasing up the estate agent for some info as to where we are in the process and it’s taken them days to get back to me, they have asked me to contact my solicitor to request a management pack (property is leasehold) and I’m thinking that potentially this isn’t my job to do.

Shouldn’t the buyers solicitor contact either the estate agent or my solicitors to request this, rather than me contacting the solicitor and asking them to contact the management company.

The process seems quite lengthy, however my solicitor does seem to be on it, so I’m reluctant to interfere and potentially get stick in the middle.

However if this is my place to request this info them I will do, but sort of think this is why I’m paying the estate agent and solicitor lots of money.

Anyone with any experience?

Your solicitor should request the management pack and add it to your bill.

Of course it’s your solicitors job to provide the buyer with all the info they need. That includes management packs etc. He/she should know this. The agent may make a couple calls to the solicitors to see if things are progressing (they want their commission), but it’s mainly between the solicitors now. Buyers solicitor contacts sellers solicitor with questions etc, and does the conveyancing. Your solicitor gets the paperwork together and hands it over. Managing agents can be really slow in handing the packs over (I’ve waited months), so your estate agents are probably hoping you (acting for the estate), who are paying the the bills, will exert more pressure on the solicitor (and managing agents) to push things along.

I've requested the management packs myself when I've sold leasehold properties before myself (on two occasions)
