15 y/o DS has been obsessed with his games console since he was about 9. He has lost interest in it over the past few weeks as his friends have moved onto other platforms and there are "no 'good games being released". He has friends but doesn't do anything outside of school with them due to their work commitments etc. He's been more social in the household and watching YouTube videos in his free time but he's also generally bored.

He's about to take up a martial art twice a week but I'm looking for other ideas I can suggest to him.

We’ve got our previously PlayStation obsessed DS14 into the gym, would this be an option?

Iamnotagoddess · 06/06/2019 19:27

Shagging, drinking, smoking weed.

Playstation

One loves art and is currently upstairs scrapbooking

The other is probably watching videos of the Jonas Brothers

One has a job (JoBros fan DD) on the weekends and visits her DF. Other than that she’s revising

DD14 who likes art is lazier. I’ve been giving her garden tasks lately and she seems to like growing plants now actually

Oh and we have pets so they walk/care for them too

We watch weird crap on YouTube together. Yesterday we asked Alexa on the fire stick loads of random fact questions

OddBoots · 06/06/2019 19:49

DD (a16) does quite a lot of study, theatre groups, gym, TV, photography and digital art.

When I was that age it was a part time job but there are fewer of them around now.

My 15 year old goes rowing three times a week, touch rugby once a week, gym three or four times a week (he’s going into the fitness industry), out with mates one night a week, girlfriend half the time, watching Netflix, walking dogs (takes them for two hour walks a couple times a week), job, Skyping girlfriend, cooking (and eating!). Gave up computer games a couple years ago. He’s very outgoing likes to be with people a lot and organises bike rides etc. If really bored he makes us go out for a meal (insisting we bring UNO). He treats school like a social club.

Geraniumpink · 06/06/2019 20:12

Cadets, drama, duke of Edinburgh’s, drumming, a bit of baking, watching you tube, drawing and painting, cosplay, listening to music, Netflix, burying bedroom floor in clothing.

whydobirds · 06/06/2019 20:38

My 14yo DS plays Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons...

moomoogalicious · 06/06/2019 20:40

Playstation, gym, boxing, football, hanging out with friends/gf, in room on phone

PearlandRubies194 · 06/06/2019 20:44

Out with friends, camping, Netflix, gaming and gym/swimming after school (15)

elliejjtiny · 06/06/2019 20:47

My ds is younger than yours (nearly 13) but he likes playing the piano, hiking, riding his bike, watersports and the usual tv/YouTube/sleeping

Iamblossom · 06/06/2019 20:47

DS1 14, alternates his spare time between skateboarding with friends, football with friends, watching skateboarding on YouTube, and sleeping. Although to be strictly accurate winding up his younger brother takes up a significant percentage of his leisure time too. Hmm

TinklyLittleLaugh · 06/06/2019 20:56

DS1 used to play football and play in a band. My DDs were into art and youth theatre. One really liked the gym, the other one preferred swimming and running.

Currently teenage DS2 does track and field, plays football for the village team and does a lot of mountain biking and fettling with his bike.
