I'll try again ... anyone tempted to bid for lunch with the Clooneys

I have never seen MNHQ delete a thread so quickly Shock

I was asking if anyone is tempted to enter the competition to have lunch with George & Amal at their Italian villa. I'm not promoting their cause (as I have no interest in it) but am intrigued by the idea of flying to Lake Como, having prosecco and cheese at Casa Clooney, getting a photo with them (only one?) then slumming it at a 4 star hotel.

I don't know if the whole thing would be incredibly glamorous, intimidating or tacky!

This has already been deleted by MNHQ once because it's against talk guidelines.

If you're genuine - and it was difficult to know as your previous post was your only one on MN - then I'd contact MNHQ to explain that it was just a question and you were merely interested in people's replies, rather than trying to drive people to your (possibly dodgy) link.

I reported you, by the way.

It's a lot of hassle for what it is if you ask me.
I couldn't be sure they'd do low carb so I withdrew
my bid.
Wink

It'd be awful. I'd feel very awkward. The little competition winner who won time with them.( Like they are a 'prize') They'd probably put on a good show at being pleased to see you etc but you are a 'job' and they'd be clock-watching till they could get you out of there.

HollowTalk · 06/06/2019 13:50

You think they might not do low carb?! I reckon they only do low carb!

BIWI · 06/06/2019 13:51

... however, I've done a bit of Googling and the competition is genuine. Unfortunately, the way you posted (as well as it being the first post in your posting name), with no way of knowing where the link was going to take you, made it look highly suspicious!

Presumably MNHQ also felt the same?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 06/06/2019 13:51

I'm washing my hair thst day

ElenaCornaroPiscopia · 06/06/2019 13:51

I've reported it too, BIWI. I've been here over a decade but, sensibly, I NC regularly.

There is no link in this thread but a quick Google will show this has had plenty of press coverage.. Now feel free to stop reporting and press the hide button

Oooh - snipey! I've explained why I reported ... Hmm

SoupDragon · 06/06/2019 13:58

I can't see why on Earth this would be "against talk guidelines"

ElenaCornaroPiscopia · 06/06/2019 14:21

SoupDragon - I included a link to the competition page by way of explanation of what I was talking about. I assume MNHQ thought I was trying to encourage MNetters to donate to the Clooney's fundraiser - which I'm not.

I'm just intrigued by it really, I imagine G&A would be incredibly charming and very good at putting people at ease. I'd love to ask them how they bagged the best seats at Meghan and Harry's wedding! And if they really did pay for the private jet for the baby shower Grin

God I couldn't think of anything I'd like to win least to be fair haha. I'm sure they wouldn't want to sit with fat old me either

ElenaCornaroPiscopia · 06/06/2019 14:28

Apparently, Amal is the big draw, not him.

Good god, no thanks.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/06/2019 15:43

I don’t see why you think this thread will stand when the other was deleted.

ElenaCornaroPiscopia · 06/06/2019 18:30

Because MNHQ ok'd it when I reported it.
