I'm trying to give up sugar and artificial sweeteners entirely (other than fresh fruit) in an effort to lose weight and get a bit healthier. I lost about a kilo last week without doing anything else or feeling hungry.
I'm shocked though by how hard it is to find savoury food without sugar (often disguised as dextrose/maltose/glucose syrup etc). I just popped into Sainsbury's wanting to get a sandwich to eat whilst I walked around the park with my napping baby and couldn't find any without sugar. I ended up getting a packet of falafel instead.
I know that food manufacturers pack sugar into loads of processed food nowadays, but I really am a bit startled that it seems to be in like 90% of the savoury products I look at. No wonder I've been struggling with my weight for so long
