AIBU to worry about my 8 year old's language or how dusty and neglected our house is (we are week 13 into renovations and building work and I work full-time). No money left for a cleaner. Please send sympathy and how to address the FUCK issue Confused

My son wrote 'fuck' on his bedroom door with a Sharpie at the same age.Needlless to say its still there 10 years later. He's turned out to be a lovely young man , so don't worry OP

TheDeflector · 05/06/2019 10:46

My ten year old spelled QUIM in Asda using their initial candles.

Not laughing was hard.

Darkcloudsandsunnydays · 05/06/2019 10:46

That is very neat writing for an eight year old and somebody else wrote it.

RB68 · 05/06/2019 10:49

Punishment = dusting clearly

Knittedfairies · 05/06/2019 10:50

One minute of dusting for each letter. Almost a shame he didn't write something worse, and longer...

sobercuriouskind · 05/06/2019 10:53

@Darkcloudsandsunnydays
It is his handwriting, he has written neatly since Y1. He also confessed and I believe him. Thanks for your input though!

Very mature writing.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

He's doing it to test the water.

itsmyapplepie · 05/06/2019 11:05

I would've written 'EN' on the end and 'DUSTY' underneath

mbosnz · 05/06/2019 11:08

Lovely neat handwriting, correct spelling, perhaps not capitalising the whole word, or was he doing that for emphasis?

theemmadilemma · 05/06/2019 11:08

I love this. Good handwriting.

I think 4 minutes dusting is appropriate. Did you manage not to laugh?

TheDeflector · 05/06/2019 11:10

I think some people on this thread should look at examples of 8 year old writing, especially using a finger.

They aren't 3.

itsmyapplepie · 05/06/2019 11:12

I found an old tape recently of my little brother in the 80's recording himself saying 'jobby jobby jobby'.

theemmadilemma · 05/06/2019 11:13

@itsmyapplepie that made me really laugh.

AudacityOfHope · 05/06/2019 11:24

It's perfectly normal writing for an 8 year old!

Damntheman · 05/06/2019 11:27

Points for tidy fingerwriting and spelling OP! Well done DC. I'd ignore it personally. If your child hasn't said fuck until 8 years old you've done well! My firstborn was using it in context at 3. shame

ravenmum · 05/06/2019 11:32

As a child I had a big sheet of cardboard on which I expressed all my evil thoughts about my mother. I hid it at the back of the wardrobe, but one day it was no longer there ... no-one ever mentioned it though!

Pk37 · 05/06/2019 11:41

Seems legit

InsertFunnyUsername · 05/06/2019 11:41

This thread has made me realise im going to be a terrible parent, because i cant stop laughing at most of these, especially...

my kid carved my life is shit on the skirting board I feel ya kid 😂

NunoGoncalves · 05/06/2019 11:42

Doesn't it say Fulk? Maybe it was written by the ghost of King Fulk of Jerusalem.

NunoGoncalves · 05/06/2019 11:43

Just saw he confessed already, so maybe he's possessed by the ghost of King Fulk of Jerusalem?

LadyVox · 05/06/2019 11:48

I was babysitting once and the youngest girl, 7, had given me a notebook of hers to read a story she had written.

I came across a page where she had written the following about her 11 year old brother: ‘Brother is a bloody fucking shit fucking arsehole’

I laughed so loudly! I was shocked but amused, and after a little contemplation I tore the page out to stop her parents finding it.

They were all lovely kids, and not a swearing house, so clearly just letting off steam! Really made me laugh!

4legsandawaggytail · 05/06/2019 12:24

I would ask them "what does FULK mean" all innocent, and see what response you get. I would pay no real attention to it either way otherwise it could inadvertently encourage it to happen again. Say you've never heard the word can someone please explain. Make no reference to it being a swear word, unless they do. Even if they say it says fuck you can discuss why it was written rather than getting cross about it. They may just be frustrated. I did think it was rather neat for an 8 year old.....if it was by an 8 year old.

WaitrosePigeon · 05/06/2019 12:25

Interesting style of handwriting for an 8 year old, especially with the capital letters.

Bluerussian · 05/06/2019 12:30

Your dc can spell!
Don't worry about it.

mummmy2017 · 05/06/2019 12:35

Tell him you now have a photo of it,. Your starting a file on the computer for when he is older so you can show people....
