Aibu to ask for tried and tested sports bras

I am a runner DD cup and wear two sports bras to stop the bounce. There can be chafing after a while and it's so uncomfortable. Has anyone come across a sports bra which stops the bounce as it really starts to affect my breathing after a while and gives me stitch

I'm a H cup and shock absorber do the trick for me.

BikeRunSki · 05/06/2019 05:54

Shock Absorber run bra. Absolutely cracking bra. Try it on though before buying - fit is different to ordinary bras. I size up in the chest and down in the cup.

Redcrayons · 05/06/2019 05:56

FF and shock absorber ultimate for me. they don't move.

I would highly recommend getting fitted first. I had to go up a band side.

Rollerbird · 05/06/2019 06:29

Agree with all of the above
Shock absorber all the way
G Cup here

Needsomebottle · 05/06/2019 06:29

Victoria's secret do a sports range called Pink. I'm the same size as you and wear theirs, they're fab, never have any discomfort or even notice my boobs while running!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 05/06/2019 06:35

Cannot get on with Shock Absorber myself.
I love Enell bras - available on lessbounce ,co.uk

golightlytoday · 05/06/2019 06:35

F cup and only one that works and doesn't give sausage mono boob is panache underwired sports bra

nonevernotever · 05/06/2019 06:37

She fit for me. It's the only one that I don't need to double up on.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/06/2019 06:39

Shock absorber, I’m 38E, and they do the job perfectly

Hashtag1 · 05/06/2019 06:57

Someone recommended the Maaree sports bra. It’s expensive but by far the best one I’ve ever had. I’ve just run the London Marathon wearing it! I’m DD too, with a broad back

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 05/06/2019 07:02

I’m same size and wear m and s sports bras. I like that they are lightly padded and underwired. Only gripe for me is that they are racer back design.

A few years ago they did a ‘normal bra strap’ design again lightly padded and underwriters but they have stopped doing them now and instead only have the racer back design. For me the holy grail is underwired lightly padded good support ‘normal Bra strap’ style sports bra. There’s a definitely gap in the market!

geekone · 05/06/2019 07:04

If you go to run and become they will fit you for a sports bra and just like the shoes let you loose on the running machine to see how it feels.
However I am a DD and I use under armour

CalmConfident · 05/06/2019 07:08

Another happy panache wearer FF cup... check you back size is not too big. Bravissimo fit you well and have a good range of brands to try

ElectricLions · 05/06/2019 07:15

Another vote for shock absorber, Bravissimo measure me at a 32F but that is not the size I ended up with so I had to try a few on. My usual bra size is 34E. A 32 feels too tight.

I also needed something I could get on and off myself, there is the normal bra strap then another clip strap higher up. It has adjustable shoulder straps that help get it comfy.

I find I have to put it on, fasten both straps then do the scoop your boobs thing to help reduce bounce if that makes sense. But I am mid 40s so they are possibly less firm than someone in their early 20s.

I think YABU for not looking at the many threads about this in the Exercise topic.

There is obviously nothing wrong with asking about sports bras, but there is both the Exercise topic (which seems almost entirely colonised by runners sometimes) and S&B (couple of exercise gear threads recently)

But, to answer your question, as DD is is medium cup size, the. I suggest the Shock Absorber (probably the ultimate run bra) but try in a shop if you can, or buy from somewhere with a good returns policy (try Wiggle) as it's sizing is weird and and you'll probably need to go up one size in the band and down one in the cup.

For the large of nork, the knee I used to wear when a G cup was the underwired Panache. The other brand that gets recommended frequently is Enell

TinDogTavern · 05/06/2019 07:20

F cup here and another vote for Shock Absorber Ultimate run bra. Absolute game changer of a sports bra for me, only one I've never had to wear a crop top over. You can often get them relatively cheaply on eBay, especially if you don't mind some of the more 'out there' colours.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 05/06/2019 09:02

I bought one through Boobydo and it was bloody wonderful, I then lost 3.5 stone quickly (diet and stopped breastfeeding) so now I need a new one. If anyone wants a genuinely barely worn Freya 38FF give me a shout!

soisolated · 05/06/2019 12:20

Thanks so much everyone for all your great suggestions. I am off shopping on Saturday and will try some of your suggestions on. Good to hear there is so much choice out there
