I m no fan of Nigel f but because we don’t like his views we were told it’s fine to throw milkshakes

Is this fine?

I'm not fond of the Tories, but I wouldn't milkshake them. They are my political opponents, and they respond to argument.
Farage? He has consistently, from his schooldays, espoused views that are racist, sexist, and xenophobic. His followers want to hang or rape opposition MPs, refer to others as apes, physically attack people for being the wrong colour or for displaying pro-EU symbols. Oh, and some support IRA bombers and Serbian war criminals.
Milkshaking works on these people because it shames them, no more. They, on the other hand, would not hesitate to kill if they thought they could get away with it.

We let the right grow too far once, and it cost millions of lives to put them back where their kind belong. If a bit of dairy makes them a laughingstock, go for it.

CountArthursgroupie · 04/06/2019 20:16

Oh what nonsense. And what do vegans feel about the milkshake and egg throwing?

Mrstwiddle · 05/06/2019 03:51

Saw this and was shocked, not only does he get a milkshake thrown at him but he gets pushed around and people shouting abuse in his face.

Hope some of these people get named and shamed.

TheoriginalLEM · 05/06/2019 04:03

My grown up DD called him a cunt

Doubt he cared, probably couldn't give a shiny shit about the milkshake either.

Historically people have demonstrated their frustrations by throwing rotten veg etc. If you spout abhorrent views, expect to be treated like scum.

Totally agree with DisgraceToTheYChromosome post. I don't like the Tories either but i wouldn't throw milkshake at them. Or anything else.

Farage and his racist cronies, i wish it was a pint of stale tomcat piss

RubberTreePlant · 05/06/2019 04:34

I think everybody needs to grow up.

Assault is not an intelligent nor an adult approach to problems.

Mrstwiddle · 05/06/2019 05:10

It’s strange, I feel very strongly about a lot of things that other people would disagree with. It would never in a million years occur to me to physically take it out on someone who held the opposite viewpoint.

It does seem that, for want of a better word “liberals” are actually some of the most illiberal people out there. And they almost seem to proud of their intolerance, see a couple of the posts above.

Drivemecrazy1974 · 05/06/2019 05:42

But, what if somebody was to put some kind of acid into that milkshake? I'm not trying to be hysterical, but, in this day and age, I'd be scared if somebody threw a milkshake over me and I wasn't certain that was all it was. Especially if I was a politician who's main purpose would be to get people riled up.
Why are we saying that assault is OK if you don't agree with somebody's point of view?

PregnantSea · 05/06/2019 06:04

Throwing food and shouting cunt are the sort things that a gibbering idiot would do because they are unable to form well reasoned arguments. Toddlers throw food when they don't get their own way. Most adults grow out of this but unfortunately some don't.

This doesn't shame these people that you disagree with, it makes them the bigger person and allows them to play the victim.

SouthWestmom · 05/06/2019 06:33

because it shames them, no more. They, on the other hand, would not hesitate to kill if they thought they could get away with it.

Right. What a load of hyperbolic bollocks. I don't support Farage but suggesting all the fed up Brexiteers are one step away from killing people is daft and divisive.

Throwing milkshakes is just pathetic. How stupid and unable to express yourself do you have to be to chuck food or fluid at someone?

IMessedUpToday · 05/06/2019 06:36

It's not ok. If you are proclaiming that you are the side occupying the moral/political/whatever high ground, whilst the rest are Nazis, then you should act accordingly. Throwing milkshakes is not an act of moral superiority. It's pathetic and childish.

SnuggyBuggy · 05/06/2019 06:36

It's a bit overdone now surely and definitely immature

CustardOmlet · 05/06/2019 06:42

suggesting all the fed up Brexiteers are one step away from killing people is daft and divisive.

Who said brexiteers? PP was talking about Farage supporters. There are brexiteers from all the political backgrounds voting for their own reasons.

I’ll just add that I voted remain because the EU protected the NHS. Let see how that turns out with Farages £350m a week!

Haz1516 · 05/06/2019 06:51

No fan of Trump or Farage, but don't think this trend of 'milkshaking' is ok. You can't say you are against someone because of their intolerance to others and then be totally intolerant of them expressing political views.

DramaRamaLlama · 05/06/2019 06:52

It's unacceptable and suggests you're incapable of forming any coherent argument against whatever you're opposed to.

Also, in a time where throwing acid has increased in prevalence I would imagine that being on the receiving end of a thrown milk shake would be quite terrifying for those first moments.

AlaskanOilBaron · 05/06/2019 06:55

Surely it's the preserve of the feeble-minded?

All in all, yesterday was a bad day for the far left and remainers alike.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 05/06/2019 07:00

I find it really pathetic. Of course I disagree with everything Farage and his type think, but as soon as you start throwing stuff, you've sunk to their level really. Makes it far too easy to dismiss liberals/lefties as incoherent loons.

BoneyBackJefferson · 05/06/2019 07:04

All that is happening is that those that are claiming to have the moral high ground and throwing milkshakes at people are giving up that high ground to those that they despise.

RantyAnty · 05/06/2019 07:05

It's just gone too far. That woman screaming in his face and the others pushing. It's violent and certainly not the way to make your point.

It's become we're tolerant as long as you agree with us or else you'll be verbally and physically assaulted.

I felt for the policewoman in the middle of all that.

Manichean thinking us vs them hasn't been successful.

Has either party really helped really helped your personal interests?

mondaysaturday · 05/06/2019 07:09

I despise Farage's views but I think assaulting politicians is absolutely wrong and the fact that I personally disagree with him doesn't make it magically ok.

I think any mindset that tells people "you're on the right side so it's ok for you to use violence" and any mindset that dehumanises people with opposing views is a very dangerous slippery slope.

Lifeover · 05/06/2019 07:21

No it is not ok, anyone who does this is guilty of assault and should be arrested..they are also arrogant and intolerant tossers who think their view point is the only one to have. Iron is really

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 05/06/2019 07:23

I think it's funny.

AuntieStella · 05/06/2019 07:23

There are an awful lot of intolerant people out there.

I mean the ones throwing stuff.

Who are causing a public order problem - after all, when parody start chucking liquids about, who knows until it's alll the target/bystander which are milkshake and which are bleach? It's really someone I do not want normalised in pubis spaces. Wrong on every level

Aft love, the

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 05/06/2019 07:27

"pubis spaces" 🤣🤣
