... to ask you how to get filtered water on tap?

I am getting a major kitchen overhaul soon.

I dislike our tap water, and don't want to use bottled...

SO, I have been thinking about installing a second tap at my kitchen sink that delivers filtered, purified, pH-normalised water.

I have seen such a thing that lives under the sink and pumps the drinkable stuff to a second tap over the sink.

Does anyone know of good brands for this?

I live just outside Paris in case that's of interest. Water is hard and very chlorinated.

(I posted this under Homes -- DIY but have not had a response)

it's not really what you mentioned but would somethign like this work? you attach it to the faucet and it filters the water

moreismore · 03/06/2019 11:45

I have one! Hang on will check brand

moreismore · 03/06/2019 11:49

The brand is Franke. Turn cold tap one way for non filtered water and the other way for filtered. Change cartridge every 6 months. The flow is slightly slower for filtered but otherwise it works great!

You could just buy one of the American style fridges with a plumbed in (and filtered) water dispenser.

My parents have this - three taps on the mixer tap, and the third one does filtered drinking water. There is a ceramic filter below the sink that needs replacing every few months. It is totally luxurious to use.

No idea on the brand, but it looks like this:

We had it as a separate tap, think it was Brita and replaced the cartridge every 6 months

Not helpful, but my workplace has one and it's bloody lovely. If I was doing my kitchen then I'd want one too, esp one that would chill at the same time.

  • my workplace is big on being environmental.

I have one fitted to my cold water supply to the kitchen. It has 2 filters which last approx 2 years.
Sorry,, I can't tell you the make as I'm not at home to look.. Best gadget we bought when we had our new kitchen fitted.

Thank you all very much!

Most appreciated.

Will check availability and fit issues and may be back with more questions.

FWIW I hate cold water so don't use the one installed on my quite old fridge (even my kids who like cold water say the water from it tastes horrible).

Thanks again

Thank you.

Could those of you trying to remember brand names be looking for Doulton?

I like the triple tap idea but already have a fancy tap ordered.

Sleep, thanks, that's not quite it -- I'm looking for something where the actual filter is housed under the sink out of sight, and the lovely water comes up out of a dedicated separate tap.
